Hey joe it has been a long time since any Burlington cars have been released.  I am going through withdrawal.

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

No kidding, not when it could be wearing black and green instead.  Hopefully, we don't have to wait for me to do my own before MT gets some CN cars out.  Looking at the Z scale versions almost makes me wish I had tinier fingers.  But N is my limit when it comes to small.

We are tooling up the Mail Baggage at the moment and the design for the 3 door Horse Car is just about finished.  Good year for us Head End Car Enthusiasts.

Its been a bit quiet of late on this thread but the announcement of an Espee horse car being done by Wheels of Time makes me wonder if MT should follow through on its project to produce such a car as well.  While they show a clerestory roof on their prototype it is probably hard to say at this moment whether or not both an arched roof and a clerestory roof will be offered to match the various "classes" of cars that Espee had.

If past history is any indicator, the VP of Finance of my railroad will much prefer the Micro-trains product over the WoT product.

The next time somebody complains we never get anything in N scale and that HO gets everything, mention the fact that we're getting not one but two RTR horse express cars.... it wasn't too many years ago that the prospect of a new heavyweight coach was the stuff you only thought off after closing time at the local pub......

Will the discerning SPF have any business with these?

Mail trains and interchanged express cars.

Parts for the Mail Baggage are being tooled now and I hope to have shots soon.  We did an RP of the Horse car and it looks great.

Joe

Curiosity.. I'm guessing the 'Horse car' got it's name based on it's original purpose (Moving horses).. but as time went on and the transportation of Horses was not as large scale as it was in the 18-early1900s, were they rebuilt for other purposes?

During the wars they were used to transport the Calvary and once the race horse business faded away, may roads used them to haul cars...as basic freight cars and out here on the west coast and I believe in Pennsylvania used to haul circus stuff and stage sets.  Also, there were a number of three door baggage cars, so they make good stand ins for those.
