The dimensions sound right.  If one wants mounting pegs a small drill and some wire should solve the problem.

Dimensions are exactly right.  Which might be too right for some Interrail cars.

I might have to get some of these.

Regarding paper-printed containers and trailers, I've tried some photo-real container blocks out and they look reasonably convincing for the most part as a larger scene filler. However, I've had trouble getting them to remain square and true. When I tried thicker paper, like photo paper, it seems to want to go back to its original shape over time and create bulges. Anyone know the trick to keeping these nice and square?

Plastic or wood bar issue the shadow of the container. Next spray Elmer's spray adhesive to the back of the container paper and stick it on like the world strongest bumper sticker.

I'll never quite understand why containers are so ridiculously expensive.

I paid $7.20ea for these.  Exactly what do you expect them to cost?  They have to be molded, painted, and decorated, just like a freight cars sans the trucks/couplers.

Apart from needing the same amount of R&D, engineering, tooling and material costs as a freight car?

In some cases, even the same amount of assembly as a box car.

Why would they be any cheaper?

Where did you get these for 7.20 if I may ask. I can only find them for 18 per pair at Walthers direct. Thanks.

I was actually thinking modern intermodal is the MOST economical form of modeling....

So...  I gave my review of Arnold and Rocky Rail containers in another thread...
Now I got some of the Rolland containers in.

And the verdict is:  Nearly perfect.

Positive notes:
-Width is spot on and these will fit DI Twinstacks and Kato Maxi I cars.
-The magnet system is awesome.   They work with each other, including combining the 20 footers and 40 footers.  They are also compatible with my magnet method.  And the 40 footers will work underneath a Kato container.  (The magnets are a little to weak to clamp to the top of a Kato where there's only a non-magnetic piece of metal.)
Finally a manufacturer got this right !!!
-There are actually two different styles of 20' container.   :D   The CTI set are a logo panel container which is appropriate for the 80's.   The others are a non-logo panel style which is good for later decades.
-Printing is good quality, not the best I've ever seen but I have no complaints.
-They come with a little foam spacer that I could use to shim up the Arnold containers which are too short.

Downsides/comments:
-The 40 footers won't fit in Interail/DI Thrall cars, although this is really the fault of the latter being a wee bit small.  (Other containers, such as Kato, won't fit either, and those that do fit, such as DI, scale out a little under 40ft.)  I think they scale out maybe a few thousands of an inch over 3", which is 40 scale feet.   Wish they'd erred on the side of a wee bit small, but I can't be too critical here.
-The 20s are ever so slightly taller than DI 20 footers.  Some of you may not even consider it a problem.  BTW, note that in the pic of the CTI container above, the are slightly different height 20 foot containers.  So I guess there's been some prototype variation over the years, too.
-The lengths are a bit inconsistent between the 20s and 40s, as the 20s are a little less than half the 40s.  The good part of this is that, being too small, the 20s will fit fine in Interail/DI cars.

I've noticed that a lot of the prototype 20ft containers aren't quite half of a 40 footer.  Looking at them on the NS stack trains, one can see a distinct gap between the inside corner castings on the 20 ft containers.  It's not more than a couple inches, if that much, but it is there.
