It is a beautiful engine, and I am not even a UP guy.

Say, what's the diameter on those pilot wheels?  They look like they have a very handy size and profile!

I was just thinking the same thing: It sure is a beautiful wheel profile! Makes it look like a well-done expensive brass H0 loco!

Sorry Peteski, I didn't mean to repeat what you just said...

Show this to the scoffers who say N scale is a toy and will never look good in detail.

If that is not the FEF actual motor and I was Kato , my boiler pop valves would have actuated . Image would be better removed or described IMO .

Dang Jason, mine (FEF ) looks just like yours. Are you just fooling us by posting your latest casting ? ? Actually this beast is IMHO nothing but a  4 bagger for KATO. I was able to run my analog version on a friends layout and at 4 v, pulling 20 rather heavy modern freight cars, it hardly registered any amperage. Could be less than quality gauges but at any rate very low pull. It was so quiet, I had to look to see if it was still running. KATO did do something that makes me wonder about QC in any type of manufacturing today. On the fireman's side and on the front, swiveling, tender truck they failed to paint the bearing caps silver. All of the others yes. No big deal, I can do that in about 5 minutes but it  makes me think about all of the things, like autos, that come delivered with problems. I know, for the sake of the bottom line, we can't afford to have inspectors or enough inspectors on the job.

At any rate, this is an excellent loco and KATO should be commended for raising the bar once again. When my 7 car train set comes in, I will not complain about wrong style of trucks on certain cars nor the fact that the yellow may not match what I already have, but I will enjoy it for what it is and that is a replica of a very well kept steam excursion train.

BTW Jason, not only is the FEF nice looking, how about that layout! Have you ever posted a thread to show it off?

Relax Richie - it is genuine Kato FEF item.   ;)
The spare FEF parts arrived before the model did.
