Atlas S2

I really wish that Atlas would have done the Milwaukee units in Black and Orange. Maybe there are more "old time" Milwaukee modelers out there that like the grey and orange, but Gordon Odegard is one of the few that I can recall. I am sure that it will all come to pass in the fullness of time, and yes, I know that I can paint my own. It is just that Orange and Black would be an instant purchase.

Second that.  Although I will consider it a favor in this case if they hold off for a bit, as I have a backlog of stuff on order already, and will need to refresh my wallet after Christmas.  An announcement about March 1 might be good.

I can't speak for Atlas but many manufacturers will spread their "sure fire seller" liveries over several releases in order to help assure a healthy run quantity for subsequent runs. Kinda hard for the guys waiting for "x" but it is an economic reality of the business; you need to "seed" each production release with high quantity paint schemes so that the overall run quantity is viable.

I look forward to trying out a CP unit on the Columbia & Western some day.  I would also bite for an SF Bay RR unit were one to appear.

Holding out for MEC units especially in green. If the wait gets too long, I'll grab a few to paint.

I am not sure the MEC S-2's ever got green paint, the S-4's 314-317 were delivered in green for road service( I think 313 was too), But 302 and 303 were out of service still in black; I don't think 301 ever got green.

Looks like 311 and 312 were scrapped/sold in black paint as well.

THe Fred Hyde book says "the 1950s". The first diesels delivered in Orange and Black were SD-7s in 1952, so repainting likely occurred after that time. Turns out the S-2s were retired by 1966 and only a couple of S-4s made it into the 1970s. Given the lack of a good FM switcher, I would feel fine using a nice Atlas model on the Beer Line until something better comes along.

I understand Pudd's point that you can't do all the "best schemes" early on, but I just wonder how many people will buy the Orange and Grey. Not a complaint per se, just my opinion.

I like the Orange and gray thrown in for good mix.  I would figure a small switcher like this might last longer in the older scheme than more powerful equipment.  My guess is lot of MR fans grab one or two because it may 3-5 years before the orange and black scheme is done.  I see this model like the GP7/9 runs!
