Not sure if you're in the market for another one, but MMID GP39 302 is listed on N Scale 4 Sale on facebook.  Not sure if you're tuned in to that channel.  Guy wants $95 for DCC ready engine. Says it hasn't been used and has original box.
If you're in for it, I'll contact the guy.

Thanks for the heads up Lee, but I think I've got all I need right now.  I might actually pare back my MMID, I have 300/301/302 now, and 2-3 extras.  I was going to renumber them but they'll never get run really as I only have the interchange modeled.  Also might get rid of the stone train I've built, as again, I only have the interchange and those cars never leave home rails.  So if someone is looking for a MMID stone train, I might have one available   300/302 and about 12 hoppers or so

@Ed Kapuscinski, I have all three of the GP38s and the two SD24s. What would be nice is if they made the new GW paint for MM in the SD40-2.  Of course if I had room for the quarry we could easily add the stone train in captive service.

I think IMRC did a GW scheme in SD40-2, just need a decal for MMID

The angry old man is right in that the blue and orange of the Maryland Midland was a stunner compared with the new G&W burnt orange and yellow.

First attempt at the new Hagerstown yard.  Tracks just laid out, not connected.  Couple nails to hold the curves.  Laid out mostly as they are in the real yard, but may make some changes to gain some length on the tracks to right.


Damn wye and caboose/power tracks take up some real estate.  But look at that space I have for the yard office and underpass

First off a picture with some labels 


Track 1 can be an arrival track, along with 2, 3 and possibly 4 in a pinch.  2,3, and 4 can act as departure tracks.  Track 2 is the main, but since most traffic stops in Hagerstown, trains can stop on the main for crew changes or power swaps.  Tracks 4-8 are classification tracks.  Most of the classification will be done on this end of the yard as it has the longer switching leads, which if you follow tracks 3 and 4 to the top of the photo can see they merge with a curved turnout near the word Lead.  Power can be swapped out at the top of the yard via the lead/wye on the old caboose tracks.  The switch lead follows around the turn and becomes access to the spur that leads off to Security to switch the cement plant.

I worked on the other side of the wall today.  Starting at Smiths Siding.  This is the interchange point for YorkRail and CSX.  How I imagine this will work is YorkRail will get permission from Jacksonville to come onto the Main at Porters and pull their train thru Smiths, cut off and return light to Porters.  They will pick up their traffic from their, where CSX had set off their cars the night before.


Next was Center St.  This is where all the fun starts and ends.  D795 and W763 begin here, while D797 and W762 terminate here.  D797 will drop cars off here that are facing point turnouts for them coming East (Utz, Mortons, and Dal-Tile).  Even though the engine house was torn down by the time I am modeling, Jim Coshun of Medford Trains was nice enough to release a kit of in in N scale so I helped the cause for more Western Maryland kits in the future and will proudly display it on this version of the layout.


I did end up changing the yard ladder in Hagerstown as well, but was able to keep it pretty close to proto.  I was able to gain 2-3 cars on each of the tracks I adjusted so that will work out great.  I'll cut/join the tracks and run some testing to verify before I do final installation.

Ok, so tell me more about the work being done in Hagerstown. Are you envisioning trains coming in and actively being classified? If so, how many, from where and to where.
