CF7 progress !  #1500 is ready for decals and hopefully will be running this weekend.  Thanks @davefoxx !  #1504 is still in the build phase.

Thanks to @mecgp7 , I'm one step closer to having my second CF7 operational on the layout.  Chassis arrived in the mail today, and with some shaving of the inside of shell and ends of chassis, it fits like a glove.

1500 is off to North Carolina for a possible sound install.

#1500 has returned from North Carolina.  I really need to finish up #1504 now and get a decoder in it.

With the announcement of the return of TRW Challenges, I jumped in head first deciding to build the structures needed for Bittinger, Vulcan Quarry.  If you haven't been watching, there's quite a few entries so far.  They can be seen here

Progress so far on the build.

Before you too far along with that, you might consider putting some lights on it.  Even if you don't plan night operations, putting some lighting on structures adds a nice touch of realism, in my estimation.

Especially big industrial buildings.

Looking at the pictures, there are 2 lights at the end and 2 lights on the side.  Also looks to be lights going up the stairway.  I still have the end open so I can still add them.  What do you suggest size wise ?

I like to use 1.5 mm yellow LEDs for industrial lighting.  They look a lot like soda vapor lights, and the shape lends itself to being painted to give you a "fixture".

https://www.ebay.com/itm/50PCS-1-5mm-Dip-Water-Clear-Round-Top-Yellow-Super-Bright-Light-Lamp-LED-Diodes/323028311177?epid=517131107&hash=item4b35fcdc89:g:Dy4AAOSwEAtZYzcZ

It's kind of a rectangular shape with a round "globe" in the center of it.

And with a listing such as the one shown here, you can get a large number of them at a very reasonable price.  If you hunt around a bit you can find them with accompanying resistors so you don't have to worry about Radio Shack being kaput.  They're also available in packs that provide multiple colors, so you can warm white, cool white, blue, green and red where you might want such things.  (Alarm boxes with red lights, blue lights for work warning lights, green for the spooky funeral parlor on main st. etc.)

I wire mine to a 9v wall wart transformers.  If you use AC, you don't have to worry about polarity, but I believe DC makes them last longer.  You can also wire 12v rated incandescents into the line as well.

I was just getting around to running a lighting bus wire around the layout when the time came to tear it down, so the local wall warts were handy for lighting different areas.

Went ahead and placed order today for those lights, along with some 402 smd leds from them as well.  While in spending mode, I also ordered my staircase from Shapeways as well as CSX ditch light housings and this car to try out to add some variety to the Rock Runner which right now is made up of all MT 43' Ortner cars.

I would think OSHA and its state sister would have mandated lighting in the stairwells too, at least at the egress points. It's hard to tell from your pick, but it looks like there are boxes located up the stairwell and over the doors, not sure if these are lights, vents, or something else.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.
