Crews in Hagerstown yard have been notified of an impending arrival of a special movement.  They have readied the proper equipment for its next part of its journey.

Doing some scenery work before the Mike McGrattan Memorial Train arrives, so I'm focusing my work on Porters Sideling.

And while waiting for things to dry, I attacked another graffiti job someone posted on a Facebook group.

Some crews showed up at the Hampstead Western Maryland station build site earlier today.  Crews had gotten the foundation done earlier this week, and are awaiting more materials to get the walls started.  They've moved a couple stacks of 2x4's already.

Another open house in the books, a whole 6 visitors yesterday  :?  Worse than the attendance, I had a Kato P42 that was giving me problems.  I popped the shell off and found the small plastic clip that holds the decoder in place had snapped so I pulled it out and soldered the tabs to the decoder.  I ran train for about 45 minutes or so, no issues.  I put the train into staging and ran another for a while.  I soon heard a buzzing electrical sound so I started walking around the layout checking for the sound.  I found it when I got to the P42.  I am not quite sure what caused it, but something had shorted out and it was sitting there cooking the decoder.  I managed to find it before any damage was done to the locomotive at least, but the decoder is fried.   :x

I hate those stupid plastic clips.  I have one P42 that's on its original decoder (knock on wood) with just that holding into place, and another that I've soldered.....guess which one keeps crapping out?

I own exactly four Kato locomotives (two F40PHs and an F2A and an F2B).  Not one of them was I even able to get that stupid plastic clip to stay in place, requiring me to solder the leads to the pads at the initial installation of the DCC decoder.  They run great now, though.  Sorry to hear you somehow fried a decoder, considering it was working for approximately forty-five minutes.  Weird.

I received my first order from Shapeways today.  I got with @Erik aka Ngineer with some of his railroad crossing signals.  Here is a test shot for old Hanover Rd, which I just realized I put on the wrong side of Suburban   Might have to see if I can move it...

I love the cantilevered crossing signals..they look awesome.
Erik does great work...He drew up my handrails for my bridge.

Why did you not go with the ones by NJ international?

Dollar bills !

I figure for time being, static signals will be fine.  There is a chance this layout could move if I remodel the house and it will get bigger ( yea !!!!!!!  :D  :scared: ) .  Don't want to drop a lot of money on lighted ones and have them sitting in boxes for years.

AgCom will be getting proper fertilizer carts in the near future !  After helping to get the Wilmer 800 model designed and printed, I asked if the designer could do the 500 model if the 800 was popular.  Guess it went well because he released the 500 last night.  At any time, 10-15 sit in the parking lot across the street from the facility.

Picked up 2 more Chessie caboose (cabeese  :? ) .  Total is now 9, which is sad since the layout will rarely run in Chessie era.  But at $10 each, I couldn't pass it up
