Did more work on Security.  Paint roads, grass, ballast.

I also got a few more turnouts and relaid the power tracks at end of Hagerstown Yard.

And played landscaper again on the O scale layout

Work continues in Security.  Holcim is going to have to purchase a lawn mower for the property.

And while paint and spackle dry, started working on a Curious George hopper

While at Security, I continued scenery work into Hagerstown yard and finished ballasting.  Also added a pipe rack to carry lines above/between the tracks.

You're going to ditch the Micro Machines, right?

They were just what I had close by.  But some of them will stay for certain reasons.

For a long time for me, it's what I had.  In some cases, it's what we had.  I didn't get to hobby shop often, plus didn't have money to buy or skill to assemble/paint Magnuson Model or GHQ kits.  But when I went to Jamesway, K-Mart or Wal-Mart, I had $2.99 to buy a pack of 5 cars or 2 tractor trailers.  They looked better than the crude representations of vehicles from Bachmann or other manufacturers.  Plus, during open house events, can show visitors how far we've come, one reason I've kept a fire truck that came with the Lifelike fire station.

In case of the tractor trailers, they had tilting cabs, opening doors and on the fire trucks, moveable ladders and rigging, flashing lights and even sound when you pressed down on front axle.  One or two of mine still light up and make noise, even after almost 20 years.  Plus the kids like them

PS: One more cool thing about the orange cement mixer in the picture, it's a sun changer model, where when exposed to sunlight, it turns purple.   I'd like to see one of the companies do that  :D

Of course, if someone wants to send me some of the Shapeways bulk trailer kits, the Micro Machines will get ditched from this location anyway.

One more update from Security for the extended weekend.  I bought 3/64" styrene rod.  I used a lighter to VERY quickly hit the rod, causing it to briefly melt so I could bend at the correct spots and angles.  Here is what I came up with so far.

Compared to this shot I took while I was making a water delivery at the site last year.

I really like the pipes.

If you want, I have a girder that is a spitting image of the one from the pic you can have (I actually have a bunch of em).

Now, that said, I'm not in love with the Hagerstown gravel area.

I think the real one has a lot more variety to it. There's some paved areas, some dirt, etc...

It's a perfect place for some grout.

Patience grasshopper....

Still need to fire up the airbrush weeds pavement etc.  I drew rough sketch of yard office building yesterday from google street view.  Going to try guessing sizes and scratching the building.  If anyone has better pictures,  please post here or pm me.

Are you going to have 7 or 8+ concrete mixers in the scene? It looks like it's calling for it.

This is a bulk transfer facility, so the mixers will disappear.  What I will have, and need to acquire are the dry bulk trailers from Shapeways and some tractors from Trainworx when they finally start showing up.  Lot's of owner operators run out of these facilities so that means I can get different colors and manufacturers to pull them.
