I can't post a pic without violating copyright laws, but I have an RF&P book where the freight road repaired an Amtrak F40PH that had an air hose or cable damaged at a road crossing south of Richmond, Virginia.  Before returning the F40PH to Amtrak, the locomotive was seen paired with an RF&P Geep pulling freight northbound.

Oh, and a quick Google search found this video of a CSX F40PH on a freight train: https://dragtimes.com/video-viewer.php?v=TXpPYNko00E&feature

In an amazing coincidence, the NSLocos Facebook page has posted just such a shot yesterday:

You can also "cheat" and figure out the phase of an Amtrak F40PH by its road number:

Phase I (Nos. 200-229) featured 1500-gallon fuel tanks mounted just in front of the rear truck.

Phase II (Nos. 230-328) had larger (1800 gallons) fuel tanks mounted just behind the front truck.

Phase III (Nos. 329-400) were similar to Phase II F40PHs, but had EMD's Q-style (quiet) radiator fans.

Hope this helps,
DFF

P.S. I've never seen those angular fuel tanks on an F40PH before.  They must be a replacement for some reason.

The CSX F40's have a longer EMD 2600 gal fuel tank (I believe, based on some posts on Trainorders) , and the battery box was moved back.  I think I am going to try to model that by using the fuel tank off the Kato GP50 that I have, or possibly cutting down an Atlas GP40 tank ...

It has been a long time ago, but I remember seeing a shot of an F40PH that....... if I remember correctly,....... was having its nose chopped and a front walkway platform created in that spot.

But I would have no idea where to find a shot like that now.

Voila!

I've seen pics of Go transit F40ph's and Via F40ph-2's leased to CP pulling freights and Amtrak F40ph's leased to Wisconsin Central... I'll do some digging for shots...

That is a weird looking beast! But it sure has the same slab-sided fuel tank I mentioned on the Amtrak F40PH.
