With plenty of work Kato trucks will work.

Yes, and the key word is "plenty" :D

Shouldn't need to do that with a loco that has the price point that it has.
A "western modeler" that also runs NS.

Following the April 10th update, IM updated it's N Scale Coming Soon page again on April 26th and updated the ETA on the various SD40-2 models to August/September 2016 which is closer to the likely date that ESU can produce quantities of decoders.  That still may be optimistic.  The SD40-2W are Oct/Nov 2016 and the SD40T-2's are December 2016/January 2017 as are the SD45-2's

A number have gone to "TBD" status, presumably because of lack of pre-orders.

I wonder if all of these roads come out at the same time, people are not going to be able to afford all that they would like, leading to them sitting on shelves for long periods of time. With the initial release schedule of a couple roads every other month or so, people could try to budget funds to get what they wanted.  I have one on pre-order, and am thinking about adding a second one just in case they knock these things out of the park and I can't get one at a later time without paying an arm and a leg to get it.  On the other hand, I order a second one and these have same issues as earlier SD4x-x releases IM had, I'm stuck with lemons.

Looks great!

Did you use the entire Kato truck assembly or just the Kato sideframes on Atlas SD35 trucks?

Maybe they will learn from this to not announce almost 50 roadnames before at least one model hits the streets.  But I doubt it....

Glad I'm getting out of Conrail 'cause otherwise I'd be stressing.

I'm thinking about canceling mine and doing Katos with Shape ways Trucks.

Giving the bennifit of the doubt, I assume they are referring to narrow hood locomotives and the Atlas S-2.

I suppose IM could have an opinion on why a bunch of those weren't 'successful', but it sure does make you wonder which one they had in mind.

They said Diesel specifically. I also think that by successful they mean an N scale model which has a relatively high-quality sound, not something that sounds like it is coming out of an earphone. Hopefully it has the correct engine recording and correct horns.  Hopefully they will be using a sugar-cube type speaker win an airtight enclosure.

IM has given me great customer service and excellent communication when I needed it.  So, I plan on giving IM the benefit of the doubt for the delay, which as I understand it was beyond their control.  I am willing to sample one or two SD40-2s to see how they turn out.  I'll be the guinea pig, if you all prefer.  I am hopeful that the wait will be worth it.
