I'd like to see one too...

Taken from Tom's Trainfest thread.. (not sure where the official trainfest thread will be.) here are my questions..

-- Inter-mountain:  Updates on the SD40-2?

-- Broadway Ltd: - Everyone needs to give them Kudos for movement on the N scale market..
---- I kind of gave a   :RUEffinKiddingMe: report on the M1 last year, but they have really stepped up!!!
---- Try to get hints on whats coming next for N..

-- Mabar:  Keep pushing for the Amtrak Rohr Turbo Trains!!!

The Woodland Scenics grocery store in N looks pretty nice.

Best wishes, Dave

Athearn FGE 57ft reefer. With sound! Is this a revision of the old MDC/Roundhouse version I'm guessing? The sound ought to be interesting.  But new Athearn investment in N is a good sign!

Looks like new tooling and the photos on the Model:160 Facebook page are very nice. Great to see new tooling from Athearn in N and these will be a welcome addition to the fleet.

These are the smooth sided FGE style not the x-post PFE style.

Think I'd have to bash 2 together to look right. Or maybe just add brick sheet styrene to extend the side walls and give it more interior. Plus lose the "loading dock", takes up too much retail floor space. Stores this small just had two swing or one roll-up door in the rear wall.
However, if there is an interior w/ shelves and such, I'd like to use THAT for the supermarket I'm bashing/building. So I'll wait for the kit.
The rolled-up awnings look cool, too.

OH HELL YEAH! FGE refers FGE refers!

Any news on the SD40-2?

Nice to see new Athearn tooling 8) they had said on facebook that there was lots of new N scale coming and that they will be at the N scale convention in Sacremento this coming year. As far as these reefers go what era do these fit I see a few pictures as far back as 1973 (atleast the car looks similar) http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/misc-frt/fgcx11341jpa.jpg here is one from the 80's http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/misc-frt/fgmr11773jpa.jpg Also what schemes would there be? Burlington Northern maybe?

The BN (BNFE) 19250-19299 series, ex WFCX 9250-9299, were similar, but differed from the picture of 11341 in the upper vent, door, and side sill, among other details.  These were purchased in 1970, so were never GN/WFCX cars, and came in the BN/WFCX yellow paint.  I couldn't find a picture of the Athearn car, so don't know whether it's accurate for the BN or FGE versions.  I don't do Facebook, and Model:160 doesn't seem to post much on their website anymore.
