Would this be too much? I know it's a freight depot, but it IS Pennsy.

That's Pennsy?!  Crap.  Oh, well, at least mine's not finished, so I can "modify" it.   ;)

It's not Pennsy.  I want to say it's DL&W...but I have one on my layout anyway.

I could have sworn it was you who said it was Pennsy. Obviously not, haha!
Maybe my mind made it up and filled in the holes.

I remember someone saying that it still exists somewhere in PA.

It looks like it belongs in the Pennsy area, however, as two people have just claimed "I have it on my layout", it immediately fails the ubiquity test (which I had forgotten to mention as being a thing, but I really don't want something that's already on every layout across the country).

Good thought though, it does have the general size and shape that might make sense.

Yeah, it's the Water Street Terminal.  I thought that they said they were going to (or did) repurpose  the office end into something but I can't seem to find what it would be.

edit: It looks like it became part of "Lakeside Shipping" but only in HO.

I don't agree that the high windows and the service bay door in your original mock-up
look out of place.   Why not imagineer that this building used to be a small car or engine repair building?  Put some vestige of
roadbed and some torn-up track that "used to" go to this building where a car or engine could be spotted... maybe even
leading right up to that bay door.    To me, that would make it feel like a remnant from PRR's steam days
that is now being used for something else.

I've sent this to Ed already.   This is the yard office in Warren, PA, 1975.   Building still there.   It was built during PRR, I first discovered it during PC, and was inside the building a few times as well.  It was the 'only' railroad building left in Warren during Conrail.

You can also pick this out on Google Earth, which gave me the dimensions of 40x60.  This is the west and south sides.   The wide door at the left is a two-story open 'shop bay' with the big glass windows on the west.   They kept the hirail truck in there.   The doors to the right are for loco and track supplies.   The door and windows on the south side first floor was the freight agent office behind the two windows.

I 'think' that the upstairs was, at least at one time, crew quarters and possibly a dormitory, although I was never up there.

Reddish brick with faded green wood trim.   I do have color shots but this is the best overall building shot.

"Triumph VII", the PRR book that covers this area also shows the following yard offices:

Red Bank, page 361, a one-story yard office, square, concrete block but two-color

Yardmasters office, Renovo, page 262, wood, gable, board-and-batten photo in 1917

Buttonwood Yard, page 69, two story, wood-sided, hip roofed, masonry addition single story, 1972 after the Agnes flood.

This is about 120 miles north of Pittsburgh, but you can also see the similarity between this and the PC&Y office on the other photo link.  It's one of those designs that look like it came out of the same design office, right down to the paint and brick color.

That Warren office is awfully tempting. It's got the "shitty, utilitarian, mundane" look that I'm going for.

Also, notice the construction, it's plain sheet brick, there aren't the brick columns that are features of the various modular systems.

I'm thinking I may try doing this Lance Mindheim style too, using printed brick and 3d details.

So my bad...  It does still exist, but it's not DL&W either.  It's former D&H.

Now I am on the record for stating that the Dimi/Tichy tower is a Pennsy prototype (specifically Ott, PA).  Maybe that's what you were thinking?

Ed, here's what I built for Enola using a Walthers modular starter set for which I had no other plans...

I wasn't specifically planning to model Enola at the time I built this so I just sort of winged it...

Dave, if any identifiable molecule of me is a SPF, I have to at least defend the hometown.   There is no "Ott, PA", it is (was) OTTS tower in Warren.  That was the split between the Salamanca Division toward Olean and the P&E on the south side of Warren, with the north line crossing the Allegheny river on a truss bridge (it still does, to United Refinery) and the south line going east to Sheffield, Johnsonburg, etc.    Today it is one lonely turnout, but it's a very busy one.

Tower was gone long by at least 1965, when the line was severed to the Kinzua Dam.    It's a pretty good model, actually, pretty sure it is a standard plan small tower.

The only decent online shot of it on 'prrerie.com' seems to have disappeared, but its in several books, in a ragged state.   See "On the Main Line", page 245,  "Triumph VII" page 219 (same photo), interlocking diagram of OTTS page 353.
