Done and done! (In HO scale) 15 second timelapse with VO-1000

Funny how the time-lapse photo shows how the decoder uses pulse-width-moulation to simulate a rotary beacon.  I suspect that the beacon was an LED (light bulb would not have shown the individual pulses).

That is looking awesome!  I know this is a contentious issue among MR's but I love clean lines and dark colours for fascia, valances etc.  It really showcases a layout (as witnessed at grant Eastman's SAR two weeks ago).

In the shortened week I prepared a few more details for the pulp mill scene and revised the building colours a bit. 







Next up is to paint and install the roof details (they are set in place right now) and the roll down door for the loading area, weather everything, and add some exterior lights...then finish the ground cover. Detailing this type of scene, I realize now, could quite literally go on forever so I am going to have to cut it off pretty soon.

A few days late and a few scales too large, but I spent the weekend setting up and running a large scale floor layout at the local N scale club's yearly show.  It gives the kids something to look at; the size and sound is a nice hook for them.  I've made at least five model railroaders in the past five years I've done this show.

Unfortunately I had too many important events fall on this past weekend and couldn't make it. Glenn wasn't too happy about it, but whatcha gonna do?

That high hood ALCO is sweet! Excellent weathering even on the handrails, and it also has the prototypical window offset.

Masking, painting and 'decaling' is easier done without the grab irons and the handrails installed. I am doing it the same way.

The M420 looks great, Craig! I found the build rather enjoyable (read easy), especially the chassis mods, but the handrails... not so much.

When you get around to installing them, please consider doing an 'idiots guide' to handrails. I can bend them alright, but the process of mounting them onto the model has me stupefied.
