What a great thread this week. I can't decide which pictures are my favorite. Everything looks amazing.

I'd like to know more about that VIA rail consist there?

Which loco? Scratch built steam generator? What else is there and can you posts more pictures?

Thanks.

Craig

Craig:   The steam generator is indeed scratch built.  Here's another photo.  I built this years ago mainly from photos and a few measurements I took when the train was here on its scheduled stop.  The cars are Con-Cor passenger cars that were slightly modified, painted and decaled.  The loco is an old Minitrix F9 that I stripped, detailed, painted and decaled.  The mechanism is very loud (sounds like a coffee grinder) but it runs well for such an old unit.  It's DC and not worth converting to DCC so it will run only when the layout is switched to DC.

Excellent. I've always wanted to build an 80's Canadian with a mixture of silver and blue equipment. I was happy to see your train.

Pardon the shakiness of the video. Mini Modutrak set up at the Railroad Prototype Modelers meet At Naperville, Il the end of last week, 10 years after our first setup ever as a group at the same meet. I shot this video of Milwaukee Road train 211 heading northbound to the Twin Cities with Ford parts, TOFC, and Mail for USPS at Saint Paul in the late summer of 1976

Messed around a little with iMovie:

Looks great...looking forward to some snow plow ops. The "Ecstasy of Gold" track made me miss the O & A show...

So I had this crazy idea to reproduce this photo.....

in N scale...

with rain!

OK.. so I cheated.  I used a LED flashlight for the train and a well timed mist of water for the 'rain'.

Not sure if its 'high art' or a sign that i need to get out of the house more.

So the flashlight wasn't N scale?  Disqualified!

But seriously, good job on the photography. But I also think that you need to get out of the house mode often.  ;)

Well I managed to get pretty far on one of my M420s. There is a ton to do yet but it's really a fun kit.

I spent most of the day in the layout room and installed all of the cork roadbed and Atlas Code 55 track on the Aberdeen & Rockfish line.  The railroad has made it from Aberdeen through Raeford and reached Dundarrach.  Progress!  More information can be found over on my Seaboard Central 2.0 thread in the Layout Engineering forum.

Have a great week,

Let's see

For me I finished up a santa fe rebuilt steel sheathed express reefer!

I also I'm working on my idea from a long time ago. An early challenger with an em1 boiler. Luckily I got a boiler from Philip Johnson so I could make the idea I've had in my head for so long come together.

After a weekend in Philly (including a trip to the best cheesesteak place in the world, John's Roast Pork), I came home and did some work on the layout.

Step 1: Getting the second pit track all installed.

Then I started mocking up a yard office. I have a bunch of Walthers modulars parts.

Out back, behind the office.

And, some local power parked near the future yard office:
