November Model Railroad Open Houses DE-MD-PA-NJ

The schedule has been posted for the annual open house tour organized by Bruce Friedman. This year's Model Railroad Open House has a record 213 open house dates on 130 model railroads open over the course of the month of November, which is National Model Railroad Month. The schedule is at http://www.modelrailroadopenhouse.com.

A subset of the above, I organize an open house tour as the Susquehanna Valley Model Railroaders (SVMR). We are a group of layouts in Pennsylvania -- in York, Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, Lebanon and Lancaster counties. This year our tour has 12 model railroads open over two days - November 1st and 2nd. The tour is co-sponsored by the Susquehanna Division of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA). The local schedule is available at http://svmr.pennsyrr.com

My own PRR Middle Division in HO scale will have its first public open house on Sunday, November 2, 2014, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The railroad's web site is at http://jbritton.pennsyrr.com.

Prospective visitors are advised that my model railroad is very much still under construction. The main line is not yet complete and, therefore, train running will be limited. However, it is a good opportunity to see the construction in progress and the vision for its completion. Located in a basement, the site is not ADA accessible.

Why are there no layout descriptions and pictures this year?

Exactly, I'm tired of just names and a scale. I know most of the ones in my area but before I go driving out west or north of Philly, I'd rather have a little bit of a description and perhaps a picture or two to see if the drive would be worth it or better enable me to select which ones to see on a limited afternoon,

And how is the general public supposed to know to do that?

Bump.  The first of three weekend layout tours starts Saturday!

/begin shameless disclaimer:

my layout is one of those open this Saturday.

/end shameless disclaimer

What's even more better, Todd Treaster's layout will be open 11/8.

If I didn't have a train show this Saturday, I'd make the hike out to see your layout Ron.

Myself and ChristianJDavis1 will be staffing Konrad Richter's layout, which is open on November 8th and 16th.
It's a good time to meet the past and present faces of Camden & Amboy Models.

Refer back to Jerry's original post for links to Open Houses the next two weekends; in addition there are layouts in central PA available this Saturday the 8th here:

I'll bring a brown paper bag then.
