lasered dummy trucks

I got these pictures of the narrow gauge railroad station I model. Those are old trucks that were replaced and than stored until they were sold for scrap.
Since they are not available and I only needed them for decoration, I laser cut them out of Polybak board (with some Evergreen styrene pieces).





The model shows the truck with cog system brakes. Each passenger or freight car used on the cog railroad I model has one with and without the this extra brake system. I still have to add the regular wheel brakes.

Cardboard wheels probably don't turn so good.  It's awesome to see what you can make out of polybak in larger scales.  In N I struggle to make window frames, but in a bigger scale you can make detail trucks that look great.

It is beautiful work and very clever use of the materials. 

Between increasing access to laser cutters, quality etching and 3D printing, the opportunities to scratch build are really opening up.

Even if I would use available wheels, I don't think the truck would run great since it is almost impossible to glue the pieces perfectly straight. It would have to be done with 3D printing, like similar ones I have seen on Shapeways but I don't have the talent with 3D software.
