Would ther be a demand for Canadian National Heavy wt. pass.cars

HI.
I've been very happy with the MTL Canadian Pacific heavy weight passenger cars and look forward to the arrival of the dining car and baggage car.
My question is this. Would there be a demand for these cars to be produced in the spectacular green Canadian National colours with the gold lettering and red logos?
I don't think anyone has ever don them in N scale. The some moulds used for all the other MTL coaches would do just fine.
How can we get these coaches?

Well........ I can tell you that Micro Trains has a comprehensive report on the various cars that they have; like, similar or close to versions of prototype CNR cars and their names, car numbers and histories.....

I believe that there would be significant interest in CNR heavyweights; I suggest you contact MT's man Joe here  (Shipsure) and add your name to what I can only guess is a fairly large list of modellers who'd like them too.

From what I've read about heavyweight in Canada it was possible to have the same car names on different cars on the same train.  Wish I had the article I read on that as it explained the use of US cars in Canada and vice versa and could be confusing at times.

The RivaRossi limited-run heavyweight six-pack in CN green/black/gold sold very well years ago, so I'd imagine an MTL heavyweight fleet would sell equally well in current times.

I was thinking  more of the CN green livery with gold lettering and the red herald used prior to the 1954 green/black/gold paint scheme. I think that one is readily available from both Con-Cor and Rapido Trains in the smooth side edition.

The three most known CN liveries;

Pre 54: "Olive" green with the square (or "wafer") logo

"Pacific" a historic car, used in the Royal Train and then used  as a "display car" in the pre 54 scheme
 
54 - 61 Green gold and black; gold letterboard, no logo

A CNR RPO in the 1954-1961 Green Gold and Black scheme with the circular logo

61-77 Light gray and black with the red CN worm

A CN Baggage Dorm car in the 1961 Grey and Black scheme


All have their supporters and detractors but the really fun part is; if you run any time from 1961 - almost 1977 you can legitimately find cars in all three liveries. If you model, let's say 1965 it would be prototypical to model a branch line passenger trains with a pre 54 baggage express, a couple of HW coaches in green, black and gold, a café lounge car in 61 grey and black and a sleeper or parlor in green gold and black or 61 black and grey...

The CNR/CN will offer Micro Trains and any other manufacturer a massive canvas of opportunities to run HW sleepers, coaches, baggage, RPO and Parlor cars. In fact; short of the open observation type cars, which were out of vogue in Canada before they were in the US (due to climate) you could make a case for several dozen series of cars in all three liveries (CN having run the heck out of their heavyweight fleet until darn near the end of passenger service) running side by side with smoothside cars like we make.

Frankly; CN is a passenger modellers panacea for variety and a mix mash of liveries.....

There was some duplication of car names between CN and CP; specifically some sleepers but it wasn't too common. There was, however, a fair bit of duplication between CP/CN and Pullman and US roads. When Pullman sleepers populated CN and CP transcon trains in the business summer months you saw that duplication make for some funny moments.

Even as late as the 60's you saw some interesting name duplications; Google "Seaview" rail car and you get some interesting crossovers to the ex NYC CPR observation cars and at least two other US road cars.

Now, if we'd just put "eh" after the name.......

Either (or both) of the two CN schemes would be a strong seller for MTL.  But that's true of a lot of names.  It will be a while before they exhaust the well, particularly when a limited amount of schemes are released annually.

I would also purchase a complete set of the CNR Heavyweight Passenger Set as long as they were manufactured by MTL.

I'd love some gray and black CN heavyweights... would fit in nicely with my Rapido G&B's. No thanks on the G&G, tho.
