Gondola Loads.... any new ideas ?

I've been eyeing my Prairie Shadows gondolas recently and wondering about loads. We've all done scrap loads, seen pre made pole loads, pipe loads, ingots, coils, crates and odd dimensional loads.... I want some new ideas and it appears the ol' brain is on vacation.....

Anybody got any bright ideas....?

Thanks in advance...........
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Cullet or Fallow?

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

But seriously folks, the oddest gon load I have ever seen was a bunch of SF loco cabs (just the cab) on their way to the scrapper.  Would be a good use for any extra cabs you had sitting around.

Somewhere, I have a pictures but can't find it at the moment. I'll post it if I come across it sometime soon.

Or an excuse to cut up all the old Model Power, Roco, and early Bachmann locos we secretly hoard . . .

Steel slab.

I like that idea Jason, I have some steel sheet on a flat car before;

How would they get such slabs in the gondola, drop ends I guess would facilitate this but I'm not sure. Would these been thicker slabs, like in your picture or would sheet also be hauled in gondolas ?

Thanks for the idea!

For some background, on the CGW train list there a recurring entry for NP gons (40' GS) hauling steel to Waterloo.  And this slab steel was the best I could come up with since scrap is usually listed as such and I think shapes like rods are listed too.

I haven't done much more than search around the web, but it seemed that most (all?) were fairly thick slabs (definitely not what I would call 'sheet').  And always in a fixed end gon.  Any place that could make or use steel slabs like this I would imagine have some sort of overhead crane.

I saved a similar pic with a bunch of UP high hoods that had been chopped off during a nose job project, where did it go?

Ship propellers.  Seen photos of they being carried in gons with wooden bracings.

Here's everything from the CGW list that was listed as a gondola load.

Aluminum,Balls,Bars,Beams,Brick,Cable,Coke,Company Scrap,Company Ties,Empty
Engine(s),Fans,Glass,Iron,Joists,Logs,Machinery,Ore,Piling,Pipe,Planks,Poles,Posts
Reels,Rip Rap,Rock,Rods,Roofing,Scrap,Steel,Stone,Ties,Tin,Tin Plate,Wire

If you have any questions about any of these I can take a look at what roads they were or if they were a particular number series or type of gondola.  For instance, all the cars with 'Rock' were Fort Dodge, Des Moines and Southern cars.

I would like some modern auto frame loads. I'd use them for flat cars but they were shipped in both.

I shot a WC gondola on a CN train in Toronto a few weeks ago that appears to be loaded with taconite pellets. No idea what else they may have been, and the fact that it wasn't loaded very high lends credence to that. It was westbound on a train out of Quebec or the Maritimes headed for Mac.

Also see gons on CN loaded with big a$$ stones... the size of cars. And they also move a lot of gons loaded with big plastic bags full of something. Saw a load of trucks recently (as in what freight cars ride on) in a gon... possibly a shop move of coming back from a mishap.
