Dang preordering a pair of those Southern units is really tempting; I like the 40-2 and the scene I plan to model someday could support Norfolk Southern or Southern ops with just a change of vehicles really.

Hmm ... MILW is tempting ... but I'm glad they didn't release the hi-hood in N&W 'cos that's going to really hurt the wallet!

Cheers,

Watch your wallet Wyatt

Ha, that was the exact phrase that popped in my head when I saw that flyer.   Wyatt will have to sell some more plasma methinks!  LOL

I really hope these locos are OK...they don't have to be great, it's just nice to see tons of SD40-2 schemes on the drawing board!   That Southern Hi Hood unit is cool...I might be in for an NS at some point but they were pretty rare in my neck of the woods.

I wonder if they ever plan to do ditch lights on any of them....hmmm.

Nutz! Here I am, modeling 1971, and my favorite loco - the SD40-2 - didn't come out until 1972.

I just CAN'T change to 1972 or later, because then I'd have to sell most of my many 40' steel ice reefers. Boy, I'd love to have those 4 Southern high hoods... sigh.

No, that was in the first batch of SD40-2 announcements. Still on as far as IM is concerned.

It's been a long time coming on the High-Hoods. A lot of people in this neck of the woods are gonna be spending some money.

Exasperating. Again, they are putting specific details and numbering on the UP units that correspond to later additions to the roster. Early '70s modelers need not apply. :x

Maybe the next release? Maybe? I sure could use one or two or three with the 81" nose and grid radiators.

Yes, the HH SOU unit is very cool. Maybe I should get one for a "pool power" excuse. It certainly happened.

Good deal, they are going to be releasing a lot of engines coming up. I hope we can see a pre-production photo soon.

According to the latest update, the first batch is due Oct/Nov.  The second batch Jan/Feb and this latest batch Mar/April.  But we all know how that goes.

Somehow, I can't picture a couple of Southern SD40-2s hauling 50 Intermountain ice reefers. I'm getting dizzy...

Hmm... and Kiz is down
for the count...

They have snoots too. God help them if they get the details wrong. With so many road specific details, if they get the phases wrong...
