Keep in mind, at least currently, there's just a big parking lot behind the station. Not sure what was there when you'd want to replicate it though.

And I'd say, re-do the track if you're trying to make it run. Ballasting (especially if you use grout) is not hard.

This shot is from 1989, but this was the building's "state of nature" since the early 1970s.  The passenger platform had been removed shortly after service ended in the late 50s, and the old freight house was demolished to make way for the highway bridge just south of the building.

I have a 24X 48 Ntrack module frame.  I might just whip something up on that.

Lee, Is your photo this station?

Yep, but looking at it from track side.

Also, here it is in 1966. Looks like a bunch of "nothing" behind it, so there shouldn't be too much other building encroachment.

Cool image.  Shows the construction of the highway piers underway.  I think the long low structure at the top center was the old freight house.

According to the wmwestsub website, it was still there (or parts of it) as late as 1985!!

I like what they've done in general to restore the station, but that elevator tower is pretty bad.  I try to photograph around it whenever I can.

Lee, I understand. The good thing is at least the station is still standing and in very good condition. Not sure how many other WM stations still exist? I know of two,

this one

Work progresses on the photo diorama for the McGratten Memorial Train, due in these parts in the next few weeks.  Last night I dug around in the parts box and found a short length of roadway that dates back to my 1989 Laurel Valley Railway layout.  There are pictures of it somewhere, but I'm not sure I can access them anymore.

Anyway, you can see I had to scrub the crossing warning off the pavement, and I added some Rix concrete railings, and built some abutments out of scraps that were leftover from a siding job.

Now that the road ROW is established, I can work on paving it and developing the real estate around it.

The sun came through the window of my office just right this afternoon.  Had to stop drafting for a moment and take some pictures...

Gotta find my damn soldering pencil so I can get those signals to light up for the impending visit of M3T.

A little more progress on the elements that will go into the photo module.  Last night I wired up the lights in the City Classics gas station I've had in the box forever.  First I applied the coat of flat black to the interior, and flat white to the exterior, then applied the trim paint per instructions in the kit.

I used a sheet of roofing I had laying around that has a raised seam metal pattern, which I found more interesting than the flat tar roof, then I used the sheet of styrene provided in the kit to fabricate interior walls around the office and the bathroom area.

A couple of different LED styles and color light it up nicely.

Now I have to detail the office with a service counter and some shelves.  You can see the printed partition they provide with the kit.  I prefer using an actual door, which lets you view into the vehicle bay from the right angle.

I'm hoping the exterior LEDs adequately light the pump lanes.  They give you a tiny lamp shade on a pipe for each of the two pump stands, but I'm not sure I can properly light them with what I have in stock, and in what time I have.  I may just put a lamp post on the outer edge of the lot and call it good if I need some more lighting on the scene.

I also retrofitted some lighting under the eaves of the Owings Mills Station I had built some time ago.  The last structure I have to light is the little plastic Life Like country hardware store, which I hope to complete tonight.
Once these are all done, I can install the lighting circuit, finish wiring the track, turnouts and signals (in the event that this one day becomes part of a larger rig) then I can properly receive the M3T.

Lee, your structure modeling is an inspiration. I always learn something. Thanks.

Lee,

I can honestly say I look forward to seeing your progress (as well as that of the local asshats) with the same anticipation as I did DKS's.

I love the blue tones in the service bays. Now you just need a few decals and dirty it up.
