Santa brought me a color printer...  Oh, the damage I can do now!

Looks like Edna Turnblad is doing some shopping down on the Avenue, Hon.

I'm thinking about coating the large figure in glitter.  I built up her beehive hairdo with some gel crazy glue and let it set while we watched some soap operas on channel 2.  What do you think?

I like how the woman in front of Skovby seems to defy gravity  :D

She must be walking back from "lunch" at Birds of a Feather... 8)  She may have recently been leaning against that line pole across the street, and hasn't quite recovered...

I never ate there, but I always did take a left at that landmark to get to Fells Point!

Steamed crabs on the deck in the summer is always a good time.

Bryan makes a good point.  There's little to nothing on your layout that suggests that it's near the water.

I'm working in about 8 square feet.  The fact that I live near the Miles River will have to suffice...

Actually, there's an awful lot of the Canton Railroad that doesn't go anywhere near the water.  The tail track that goes off into the corner is my homage to Boston Street, with the idea that beyond the wall out there in the Fifth Dimension somewhere, is Brown's Wharf, Belt's Wharf and City Pier at Fells Point.

The part that's modeled follows more the example set between Boston Street and Lombard, with the big breweries, and numerous warehouse businesses that were up in Canton proper and Highlandtown.

This scene is about 50 yards from the harbor.  Can you tell where the water is without looking at a map?

My guess is Thames and S. Caroline Streets.

No points for you, Dave.  Sorry!

That's Boston Street, near what's now called "The Can Company", but back in the day was known as...

The "AMERICAN" Can Company!  Located between O'Donnell and Hudson Streets.  The building you see on the left in the first shot is the location of the new Safeway, and off in the distance is Tindeco Wharf, which by the mid 1980s had already been converted to condos.

I've got a copy of the Walther's George Roberts Printing Company kit with an eye on bashing out the Can Company one of these days...

It was hard to tell, not many landmarks left. I was in Tindeco just before it was sold and again for a party about six months after they were converted into apartments.  Scary building as a 17 year old who was delivering stuff to the only business still in the building at the time. Old time elevator with metal gates and when I got off the lift there was no one to be found, totally creepy horror movie type of space.

I used to run one of those elevators in the Candler Building when I was in high school.  Once I learned the route, it was a pretty good job...

When they renovated in the late 80s and took out the old hardware, my uncle who managed the building made sure I got this.

Hey I know someone who lives on a boat now.
Josh Surkosky

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."
