(That's the night we work on crafts, while drinking craft beers... :D)

Genius!  I love this idea, and not only for the beer part.  It's an excuse to work on the hobby without feeling guilty for not spending time with the family.  Family time is a good thing.

Lee, I enjoyed watching you design and build Cumberland on the WM Western Lines, so I'll be sure to follow along here, too.

I was just getting to this part on Cumberland when I pulled the plug.

It's a lot easier starting with a level base, I can assure you!

It's looking good Lee, but I think you need to build a few of these to nock off the ice from the bridges and the Howard street tunnel.

More glacial progress.  Of course, now that I've closed the loop and can run a train endlessly in circles, everything else is pretty much at a stand still.

But alas, I took some time out of my busy schedule...   ... to work on the station area a bit...

The team track needed a loading platform, so I whipped up this little number out of things I have laying around...

I also put a block foundation under the station building, and put some Plastruct steps up to the door.  A little painty paint and some ground cover will get it looking a little more like a photo location.

Next I want to put a little overhead crane up, such as the one Ed and I found in York, PA near the old WM freight house.  Sadly, this is now gone along with the freight house, and most of the economy of York County....

The lattice work I've got is a bit too clunky to work for the legs, so I'll probably just use some I-beam material.  If I have room, I'll set it up to span the loading dock and the track.  This is a bit of an afterthought, so I didn't leave much room.  It might fit behind the station, though, on one of the other industrial leads before they cross the street.

Lee

Central Valley has lattice work stuff available. Might be right up your alley to make that faithful to the prototype.

What's that clumpy stuff on your track ties? You're not re-using old track?!?!?!?!?  :o I was told that is a naughty-naughty no-no.

Buddy, my entire life is about re-using stuff.  Ain't nothin' in this life that's permanent.  Besides, it's a team track.  What could possibly go wrong? :D

WOOT! RESOURCEFULNESS! If I didn't reuse old stuff, I'd have to quit the hobby. And seeing as how this is pretty much my only outlet for stress, that ain't happening. So as long as I have a $0 budget, I'm with him ^^^^  :D

Being as I'm actually selling off train stuff to pay other bills, my hobby budget is in the negatives for the moment... :D :P :ashat:

SOLIDARITY! :D That's how I got back into the hobby in 2011. I sold off most of what I'd accumulated over 20 years to pay the mortgage. Now I'm selling stuff again to do the same, but still using leftovers, hand-me-downs, spares, and donations to keep working in the hobby. That's how I built my boxcab (caboose shell, sprue, MTL truck parts, EIDE cable, guitar string), 59-ton switcher (RSD15 shell, steam engine headlamps), Mister Rogers' Trolley (brill shell, plastic bread bag clips, clamshell packaging plastic), and various other projects, too. I love a challenge.  8)

Down the Avenue, I see the scaffolding has come off, and remodel is done at Skovby's.  Just in time for Prom season.  I'm heading down there now to rent my powder blue velour tux with the big butterfly bow tie.

For those of you who were dubious about my use of foam streets, note how nicely the sidewalk nests seamlessly onto the payment.  (That's right, it's Payment, hon.)

And I can still pop it out to work on it at the desk.

Next I'll be working my way around the block teasing out the other buildings in the neighborhood...

Unless I get distracted by something stupid like track or wiring... :ashat:

Nice! I have a corner apothecary in the mail to turn into a cafe/dinner.
