It happened a few weeks back, but the identity of the acquired company hasn't been released as of yet.

Red Caboose? IMRC does most of their distribution already don't they? That would make sense...

Didn't they say at the N scale convention they would be re-releasing 5 models by end of the year. That could be Red Caboose but Bowser doesn't add up. I almost wonder if it's old Deluxe Innovations.

Didn't say what they bought, but announced new releases (but, again, didn't say what). Should I be excited, or simply confused?

OOh I forgot about the second cab and the Airslide. Still don't think it's them though.

My guess, based on no information at all - is Bowser, which I think would be great.  The models are decent and could use an upgrade
in trucks, couplers and decoration.

But again, what do I know?

I'd be surprised if it's Red Caboose.. The announcement: Intermountain bought someone and plan to 're-release' 5 new models by the end of the year (Did it specify N scale?)

Red Caboose was for sale, but then they got the agreement to have models developed?,  produced and marketed by Intermountain.. I'm not sure how how that agreement works, but it seems easy money for whoever owns Red Caboose.  No reason to sell..

DI suffered the flood but is still announcing products.. Right?.. (again through IM)..

Model Power was sold to MRC..  (I'm surprised Bachmann didn't grab it.)

Railyard models didn't have any N scale that I know of (wait.. 1 coil car).. (but that'd be cool if they started in N)

That leaves Bowser/Delaware Valley.. Anyone else?

While true, I don't think this is a big factor with IM, as they still do at least some if not all their own tooling in house.

When I visited there, the general vibe was that the research was really the big hurdle to overcome for any project.  Honestly, I feel like if you provided plan drawings and all the roads name info, I think they'd take a serious look at whatever the project is.

I doubt it...   Both of these guys seem to have figured out how to sell direct and apparently make money turn cash flow or something.

Dan Huberman of PWRS/NARC would torch his property to the ground before selling it to IM.  He hates them, and takes every opportunity to bad-mouth them when he gives talks about how to run an MR manufacturing business in the 21st century.

I doubt they would buy Red Caboose either because they basically already did.  Sadly, the quality of the auto-racks has suffered somewhat under their watch.  Deluxe makes some sense to me, and would be most welcome.  LBF/Huberts would as well.

Didn't know this, but seems odd that so many of PWRS special runs are IM cars. However a buddy of mine pointed out, if you see a PWRS special run, and want it cheaper, just wait 6 months or so and the company who did the original run will sell it for a fraction of the cost.
