FVM Spartan Cab GP60's are now official.  Probably not real surprising but nice that they are on the drawing board.

Not sure if the image links work as true links to FB photos or if you have to belong to FB, but here is the overview pic:

Love that they have ditchlights on appropriate models.  This is definitely a puchase for me...at least two--Cotton Belt and UP--may get an SP, too.

For the Facebook averse, the text of the announcement:

Good Morning everyone,

It is the first day of the NMRA National Train Show and a good day for something new.

New GP60 series in HO and N Scales

FVM introduced the N Scale GP60M and GP60B locomotives last year, and have been asked for HO models ever since. We are happy to announce the GP60M and GP60B in HO today! These locomotives will feature great detail throughout. Numerous separately applied parts, metal grab irons and lift rings, see through fans, MU hoses and cables, brass bells and horns and detailed trucks and underbodies. The smooth, powerful drive will be available in DC (DCC Ready) and DCC/Sound versions.

We are also happy to announce 8 other versions of the GP60 in both HO and N. All the same details as listed, plus road and era specific details. These include:

ATSF Early - Rounded Dynamic Brake Housing, Nose lights, Small Plow and Fuel Tank, Roof Top Details incl AC & Antennas

ATSF Late - Square Dynamic Brake Housing, Nose lights, Small Plow and Fuel Tank, Roof Top Details incl AC & Antennas

NS Early - Square Dyn Brake Housing, Large Plow, Front and Back Ditch Lights, Twin Firecraker Antennas and 5 Chime Horn

NS Late - Square Dyn Brake Housing, Large Plow, Front & Back Ditch Lights, AC with Twin Sinclair Ant and 5 Chime Horn

SP Early - Rounded Dyn Brake Housing, Large Plow, Nose Lights, Flush Mount Brake wheel, Roof Top AC & Antenna

SP Late - Square Dyn Brake Housing, Large Plow, Recessed Brake Wheel, Ditch Lights, Roof Top AC & Antenna

SSW Early - Rounded Dyn Brake Housing, Large Plow, Flush Mount Brake Wheel, Roof Top AC & Antenna

SSW Late - Square Dyn Brake Housing, Large Plow, Flush Mount Brake Wheel, Roof Top AC & Antenna

N Scale units are all DC (DCC Ready) $130.00

HO DC (DCC Ready) $199.95

HO DCC/Sound $299.95

Starting to arrive this fall.

We will start with the first batch of HO units announced today. The other versions will start to arrive over the Winter and early Spring. Specific details and part numbers as each group gets closer. You can see some of the early test shots on our Facebook page - please keep in mind these are very early and more details are being tweaked.

For the first group, we are pleased to announce the HO GP60M and GP60B in the as delivered ATSF Warbonnet Paint. Also in this group will be the early Norfolk Southern GP60 in as delivered and the Operation Lifesaver paint scheme. DCC/Sound units will be powered by ESU LokSound decoders. These first few groups will be limited in production as we have already set initial quantities. Please see the flyer for part and road numbers. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Best regards,

Matt

Very nice. Looking at getting some SP units for run-throughs.

Hope they follow these up with GP50s.

I'm not usually a guy that jumps at a bunch of units but GP60s are a favorite of mine. I talked to Matt at a train show (2011 I think) and asked for these so now it's time to order up. In 4 one of each of the SP and SSW units.

I wonder what chance there would be to see the GP60 demonstrators? That would be cool. Would need some modifications to the nose and probably other parts. Really looking forward to these!

Just change the "https" to "http" for the non-FB folks:  GP60s

Yes, something we are really missing in the "modern" 4 axle EMD power.

Also, anyone ever deal with getting shells from FVM? I could use a GP60 shell to kitbash a BL20-2.

While not exactly the situation, I emailed FVM about a decorated GEVO shell and the purchase was quick and painless. I think it was about $30 plus shipping.

I would like to know about the availability of undec shells or shell parts. Let me know what you find out.

Phase I GP60's....cool!

Maybe I'm not clear on phases.

I was thinking the Demo units were phase 1.

There were only 3 of those, and CSX has them.

Actually, I would LOVE for Fox to do the rounded cab version.

GP60's are my fav loco from the 90's forward. Loved when they were on NS Intermodals on the Greenville District so I may have to get a pair of NS ones.

Man...

Definitely in for a couple Phase Is.

The question is whether to relegate my Life-Likes.  DCC readiness and details vs. the expense are going to make it a tough choice.

It's clearly to spite all the NS complainers about the headlight placement.   :P
