Interesting.

From the BN number, looks like from the following series:
610189-610213 60'   FM-Flat, former NP 66000-66024
and likely identical cars in the next series:
610214-610358 60'   FM-Flat former, NP 66100-66244
(From Friends of the Burlington Northern Railroad website at www.fobnr.org)

Looks like a few were still around during my era choice, so I'll buy one BN probably.   And I may actually be more interested in the NP if they ever do that one.  I think I have a photo of one of those from the early 2000's, if it's the same series.  EDIT: Yep, it is!  This is the one I shot: (this one's not my pic, just one I found online for reference) http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1733913  I actually took the photo in 2007 though...time flies.  EDIT AGAIN... Here's mine:

NP 66127, photo by Doug Andreasen, Taken 5/13/2007 in Wichita Falls, TX on BNSF's Wichita Falls subdivision.

ATSF Cars, if I'm reading the number correctly:
FT-7 (F-29) Flat Series 90900-90999 built 1956
FT-7 (F-29) Flat Series 90900-90999 built 1956, sheet revised 1964
FT-7 (F-29) Flat Series 90911,14,28,32,62,77,79,93 built 1956 sheet revised 1983
They would be past their 40 years for me, but maybe in MOW service?

I definitely like the era.  I just can't use more than one.  :|

Looks like a nice car and I hope it is a big success for them.

Best wishes, Dave

I like reasonably sized flat cars.  And this would be fun to have 2 or 3 of.  I'm just not sure if the IC scheme is early (i.e. pre-GM&O merger); I think it is but I can't read all the data on the side of the car.

If someone cares this late at night - how do you still have these in service in 2014 with an original build date in 1956.

Captive service/non-interchange. (i.e. MOW service)

There are also rules where they can get an extra 10 years past the 40 for interchange service, too.  I don't know the specifics of how that works or if it would apply to a car like this.  That would still only get them to 2006 though.

Yes, that's pre-GM&O.

Fits my era perfectly, so I'll be getting a couple each in ATSF and SSW.

Prr F47. Looks like 25 were built in late '64 and early '65. I'll pick one up!

I guess I'm going to sell my Inter-Mountain 60' wood deck flat cars...

If a company uses a flat car as idler car, do they always use their own flat cars?

Why, the IM's are decent cars and a different, later car too.

Era-correct for me; when do we get the NP paint scheme?

Well since I model 1995-2005 . . . that sort of works.  It would have to be pretty torn up by then.

I get to procure a new Wabash flat to run in 1956.  Which is a pleasant surprise, because I thought this was strictly a 1960s prototype.
