Its a tribute Lionel Alien transport box car.

Finally, a car I'd buy.

I wonder how much popcorn Craig consumes whilst going through these teaser treads?

Well, I think this "guess" thing is sheer genius. (We never expect less from Craig!) Not only does he build anticipation about new and different products, he gets to gather invaluable marketing information about what we will actually buy... and without getting tripped-up in the "squeaky wheel"/"me too" that comes with a generic "what do you guys want to see next?" query.

All those marketing classes are paying off, I suppose.

Thanks Doug and Ike, I am glad you found the info useful.  I should note that the MP and CNW cars are slightly taller than the D&RGW cars, but the Trainworx model is similar enough to those prototypes that I don't mind using the same model to represent all three cars.

When Lou suggested it might be the UP version of the Bethlehem quad hopper, I got really hopeful.  I had asked Craig for this car about four years ago when I first saw the Tangent HO models at the Union Pacific Historical Society's convention in Boise.

While the odds are the new model will be something totally different, I will be in the same predicament as Mike if it is the UP quad, as I will need at least 100 of them.

Yes but loooooong out of production, as noted.  And never fully taken advantage of in terms of paint schemes when available.  Doubly so considering it has been so long since produced and the prototype continues to go on, getting patched out and freshly painted in new schemes..  PIC, Tangent is releasing them (in HO) in a (contemporary) NS scheme.

We could use a modern Bulkhead Flat too and I still wonder if that's what is coming.

But if we're gonna get an updated 4740 in some schems that have not been done in a LONG time. Well then I'm all for it.

Watch it be a flat car with a K4 on it.

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Alternate version:

Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Only if it is a static model!  :D
All of us non-SPFs would just get a tub of popcorn and watch the fireworks.

Best wishes, Dave

Nope, it's going to be the original design...

Are you sure it's not a "Bopper"?

It was an experimental car the BN had built: half covered hopper - half boxcar. They were trying to make a more versatile car fleet. Only three were made and I believe they are all at the Lake Superior Transportation Museum in Duluth, MN.

Hmm... I'm designing a
car that's gonna be
half flat car and half
tank car...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Obviously, it is a billboard car.  Duh!! :D
(And don't you think they should get the sides on straight?  I mean, really?  :D)
