I also browse the HO shelves at the LTS and pine for all the things I can't have (like the entire BLI PRR line, for starters). Then I come home and look at my 3 scale miles of mainline and 13 car passenger consists. I am happy in N Scale.

Really looking forward to watching this develop; whenever I end up getting back to actually having a layout I'm thinking I'm going to go with HO scale for a switching layout. So I'm really excited to see how this develops

Same here I like to have scale distance and large radius curves, one of which is going to be 72" radius, I have HO stuff as I originally modeled in HO, I might do a small modular set up sometime but don't know, another thing is a lot of the cars like 86' boxcars in HO are getting harder to find even stuff like Athearns F89E flats have been discontinued, another thing is price locomotives are quite costly in HO and since I model major mainline activity I need a large locomotive fleet I have 50 locomotives in N.

I picked up 4 locomotives this week and all were about on part with N prices. 1 Atlas master and 3 Genesis units.  Over the years I've figured out its best to buy them when they have been out for a bit and then they will be in the $99-150 range.

so time for more photos....the next section we will explore is from Rt 116, down Turnpike road, which has 4 crossings, then the Rt 2 crossing....we will follow the 1732 towards Groveton, then follow the 2607/216 back towards Whitefield to the Rt 116 crossing, which is where I left off last time...Next time we will look at the area of Lancaster...

Is there a reason these are just locomotives and not trains? Presumably they're not just out for a joy ride down the line...

The 1732 is returning from a day of hauling passengers for Presby , they make plastic pipe, and are currently the only customer on NHCR as far as I know....the used borrowed Conway Scenic coaches...

And in the other pics, the 216 is being delivered to the Conway Scenic.....

Presby is the only customer at this point on the Whitefield section of the line. The Whitefield section is also used for car storage in Whitefield and Lancaster.  NHCR's other customers are located on their Beecher Falls section, which pretty much are all at their transload.

Hey now Marty!

Welp, I was able to get some of the mill trackage down today. CN/SLR mainline should mostly be down by the end of the week. I need to pick up some more ME switches. MBK had mis-categorized them on their website and they were not under Code 70 so I ended up getting them at MicroMark...at $4 more each... found em on MBK today just under the "track" category    So I overpaid by about $30. Ordered some more from MBK.

Tried Rustolum Camo "earth" for the track painting as recomended by Mike Confalone, and I'm pretty impressed.





Ive also been working on some per diem boxcars.

Nice looking cars...Now make 'em dirty!..Also, that Rustoleum camo earth color is awesome!..It also makes a good freight car truck base color....

The next location on our tour is Lancaster, Nh....The first spot we come to after RT 2 is this bridge over the Israel river, I don't have any pics, but found these online....The truck in the pic is still in the water under the bridge unless it's been moved, which I doubt..I think it would make a cool mini scene...

This is the first crossing in Lancaster,Mechanic St,... we will make our way north towards Groveton with pics...this train is going towards Groveton



towards Whitefield...


We are on the next street over, the red building is the former MEC freight house, I am basically standing on the former station site...from here the tracks straighten out and are totally straight until Coos Jct(still in the town of Lancaster), and they go behind about 30-40 houses and a few stores and a tractor dealer....this train is going north..


Here you can see the grain elevator type building on the right, the tracks and switch to this building are still in place , the switch is behind me...the station was next to the geep on the left....this train is going south...


Here is a neat bridge, and drawings for it and the abutments were in the November (I think?) 1979 issue of MR....both locos are going towards Groveton..





This is a neat spot between two house's yards...in the first 2 pics the train is going north, the last south...






Next stop will be Coos Jct....

Just a tad bit of work this week. I've been busy at the RR as well as normal work, so time to tinker with hobbies has been slim.  I was able to finish up the trackage in Groveton at mill, and also whipped up a quick Atlas station kit to serve as a stand in for the GT/CN/SLR station until I get a chance to build a proper representation. The Atlas station is almost a match.





I also picked up an old Bachmann Metroliner cab to start working on an cabcar for the twice daily Amtrak train that I have yet to pick a name for.
