Just checked the intermountain site and it seems quite a few things including some of the new flats have been side lined  :( or cancelled not looking good  :scared: http://www.intermountain-railway.com/newsncomingsoon.html must be a lot of production problems or something. I was looking forward to checking out the AAR double door boxcars and they are all cancelled  :x

I'm relieved to see that so far the war emergency and the 8000 gal tank cars haven't been cancelled. The tank cars are hard to find.

None of the new AAR flats have been sidelined.  Both the first and second releases were announced eons ago.  The first release is coming in Aug/Sep, including a special run of six ATSF car for Prototype N Scale (which bumped the stock ATSF release to the second group).  The first release of the standard variation and all of the bulkhead variations are on the ocean and scheduled to arrive in Denver next month.  Barring any delays in U.S.Customs, the cars should be available before Labor Day.  The second release will follow, possibly before the end of this year.

The tank cars have been unavailable for years and demand is high.  The war emergency boxcar is new tooling.  There was no chance of either being canceled.

There have been many releases of both the ATSF reefers and the ATSF stock cars, so demand wasn't as strong on those.

There were multiple CN schemes announced on the boxcars.  Some are still on the schedule.  Other CN items are still on the schedule as well.

It's not an issue to be worried about.

Does it make sense to make six numbers of cylindrical hopper for the Warrenton RR or Logimex????

2 would seem to suffice.

Hmm... that's still too
many. How about half
a number...?

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Kinda stupid. I hate that they do this.

I'm not going to reserve tons of their stuff, given their flakiness, but I'd probably buy it when it shows up.

This strategy becomes a self fulfilling prophesy.

Well yeah.

I wonder if offering so many car numbers for each model makes getting to the minimum run necessary for production too difficult to achieve?

For example if you have boxcar "A".   And it's offered in 6 numbers as opposed to say 1 number, does it mean that you need 6X as many pre-orders for the boxcar to be put in production?

No.  It's not an equal ratio.  In most cases, there are fewer per car number of a scheme with multiple car numbers than there is for a scheme with only one car number.  IMRC counts total reservations on a scheme in general, not per each car number.

Thanks for the info Bryan!

OK, so if I'm understanding this, IM doesn't demand 6X more preorders than it would if it were only to offer a single number, but there is some kind of multiple involved meaning that offering a car with 6 car numbers is going to require a larger pre-order than the same car being released with one 1 car number– is that correct?

This is par for the course with IM.  I ordered an ABA set of F7s in the Q today.  I only order the must haves but I don't invest any emotional interest in their products unless they actually arrive.

Your layouts nice, but it needs more Conrail !

Happy to see the IMRC Orange/Black Milwaukee Road F-7s are still on, although STILL 6+ months out. Sign. Surprised to see mention of the FVM Milwaukee transfer caboose in the 3rd quarter. These have been a long, long, long, long, long, long time coming. That said, its not like my railroad is completely built and just waiting for these. It will be interesting to see how they ride, as they will be really tiny.

Best wishes, Dave
