New BLMA KCS PS 4000 Covered hoppers (repaint)

Being a sucker for RTR KCS stuff, I bought two.  I found a link to a single protophoto through the Tangent website (https://www.tangentscalemodels.com/product/kcs-repaint/) that shows a copyright date of 1988.  These hoppers by these numbers don't show up in the RailroadpictureArchives.net listing - anyone got links to other pics and perhaps some run stats?

Thanks!

I've definitely been looking for KCS stuff as it is common on NS, but I could find zero evidence of these cars in the 2000's....

I had the same result in my research.  Other thing is, Tangent only did two road numbers so in my mind there were probably only two.  Hardly a ubiquitous car and definitely wouldn't be common on 2000's BNSF. (unlike almost any KCS boxcar which was/is extremely common.)

I have nothing to add.

But that shot on the Tangent website confirms the KCS car would fit well for me. Southern Ontario in the 1987-89 timeframe is my interest, so a shot of one in London Ontario in 1988 is all the excuse I need... probably gonna pick one up  :D

given how rusty that one is, the two I bought will need some heavy weathering if they made it to 1995 . . . . but I'll keep them just the same.

I'm pretty sure I saw one in the KCS New Orleans yard in the late '90s. As I recall, it was slightly dusty and only had a couple of small to moderate rust spots on the side I saw.

Hmm... with Kiz's memory,
it was probably a corroded
hulk...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Well given that those are 1996 and 1998 photos - they make my time frame!  And I have weathering examples!

Is KCS a fallen flag?

Here are two more:

I'll be darned...how'd I miss those?  I checked the FF site but I guess my eyes scrolled past the first two entries on the page.  And in Texas, no less.  I wonder what they were being used for?   Anyway, still probably not a purchase, but I do like that scheme so maybe someday one will make it onto my roster.    Thanks for sharing the pics!
