It's a bit short isn't it? All the Victorian houses I can think of are two stories plus the Mansard roof, not two stories including the roof as modeled here.

IIRC I've seen Victorians that small, on the Eastern Shore I just cant place exactly where on the ES. I want to say somewhere around Oxford.

I actually like a few structures WS has been producing, but I would prefer them in a more refined kit without the gaping holes where they want oversized details placed. Yes I can fill them but I'd rather not have to do all that work.

Houses invoke Ed's Law in spades. There is no "right" and no "wrong", there will be a prototype for anything and everything. It's just dependent on whatever muse the architect or contractor happened to be listening to that day. Just because you don't see Design X in your region doesn't mean it doesn't exist even just two counties over.

These are catalog homes, though I do not believe they are from Sears. There were several companies in the late 1800's that sold kits and this specific model was very popular in Natick center along Pond Street. They are very small houses... about 25 by about 40 feet. I lived next to the bottom one in the white house in the background for a few years.








This one is a VERY close match to the WS model:


These all appeared around the same time as the original Wilson Leather baseball factory:


This was converted into condos about 30 years ago.
I lived here too for a number of years.

It's why I said I look forward to the kit ... put 2 together to make it higher, or longer, or whatever. Take the roof and stick it on  some other house. Agreed, assembled it's pretty goofy. But the parts possibilities.... for doing a 40s or 50s scene these would work.
Think of it like taking parts of this freight car, and parts of that car, and the roof from a car kit, and trucks from somewhere else, and making one car out of it. Right?

Yes, a Levittown house, the grandfather of all suburbia. It's sort of like a AAR boxcar in house design, variations of all kinds yet still a common resemblance.
