Still, makes me wish GHB had gone after a different class to start...one that can't be obtained as (relatively) easily as the L1s.

It's somewhat less easy as GHQ is out of L1s conversions.  I checked when I paid for the R50b's.  Whatever you can find on Ebay, swap meets or at Republic is all that's left.

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

I'll admit to not being especially attentive in this thread (the ad is a bit "busy")...  Did anyone catch the expected delivery date?  I would reconsider if it were soundly deconflicted with the expected M1 from BLI.

The web page for the ad is here, but no information on a due date on that page nor the main page for the GHB site.  An email in the N-Scall PRR Yahoo group just states "Drawings approved - pilot models underway".  That is dated March 3, 2014.  I'd guess it's a while away, but it could be about the same time the BLI M1's hit.

Of course, the best way would be to email George and ask.

To quote George, 'Payment can be by International money order, bank check, credit card using PayPal or gold pieces of eight.' I've had my metal detector out and been tramping through the local creeks collecting my gold!!! He has not committed to a delivery time that I have seen.

What about us regular guys? I got all exciting til I saw $700 price. If it was $250 or less Id be down. Cant justify spending several months budget on 1 engine. Hopefully BLI will produce their version for much less.

I'm not even a registered SPF and I'm very happy with my GHQ L1, pulls like a moose, my single-locomotive tractive effort record holder to this day.

For a while Republic Locomotive Works (Marshall Thompson) had enough parts to assemble L1 kits.  Apparently not any more - he now shows 'sold out'.

The only soft spot I have that I'd probably willingly shell out that much is for a D16sb 4-4-0.     Behind that, an I-1.  In both those cases I've thoroughly investigated what it will take to build one, and ya know, that price isn't that bad.    I'll feel better after I find out how they run, for sure, because putting stuff in a display case doesn't cut it with me.

I was fortunate to acquire the last L-1 pewter kit from RLW
as I was informed, GHQ simply is not going to make any more
while RLW has super detailing parts still available that were part of the whole kit
the boilers are sold out and not to be produced again, unless GHQ has a change of mind
it seems IIRC GHQ makes its profit with war miniatures and not n scale model railroad kits

as one involved in getting a d-16 afoot ( the project stalled on my inablilties)
I can state that profit margins on n-scale locos are a little thin.

These were the steamers which ruled the Cumberland Valley branch and I might get one after I see how well they run.  I've got the Kato 2-8-2 and the conversion kit tucked away (never been opened) and just maybe I can sell them off to get one of these.
