Finally got some color on the first Wind Turbine Blade Loads.  I can't wait to run a full train of these!!





Looks like these are so drop dead sexy, it claimed the life of a little dove there...

I started to build this kit and that led to some very heavy modifications so now it's almost a scratch build and then that led to construction of a small diorama that will some day drop into a layout.
The piling and dock area aren't part of the kit but part of the diorama to mount the kit once finished.
Since this photo was taken, I've put the stringers on the caps and I'm in the process now of laying the decking on the dock.

Too busy to take photos, but this weekend's activity was a downtown festival celebrating the history of our downtown area, especially the railroad heritage. With the help of my St. Louis-based club, I hosted an N-Trak exhibit at our local history museum, and gave a talk about the rise and fall of the Roman Empire #1 and #2 employers in our town, the IC and the CB&Q.

Thanks.  It's a laser cut cannery kit from Micro-trains.

Been experimenting with the gravel road and gravel clearing on the diorama.  I am using sanded and non-sanded tile grout for the gravel.




I started with a base layer of non sanded tile grout in a buff colour.  On top of that I added a mix of tan, grey and white.  While the grout was dry I ran some old freight car trucks through the gravel to create rhe appearance of tire tracks and ruts.  On the entrance road I used a small brush to create the compacted areas by clearing the gravel layer away to expose the buff base.





Took some doing to perfect the methods,  but I think I have a workable system for backwoods roads now.

Next step is to experiment with creating areas of mud and puddles.
