I do not think so as the sole bars are not tapered like that on the F39, and the center beam is not perforated as in the NW picture. If it was an F39 there was a lot of work done on it!

I hope so - we now have seen the laser cut wood decks that we were short of - so it now needs the production time to get it ready. I anticipate we should have it for the NSE Convention in Roanoke. I am really sorry for the long wait.

  that IS an F39,but it is the Cast Steel GSC "Commonwealth" version.
  don't know the sub-class,and think there were about 50 of them.
  GSC Cast Steel cars are still very Durable.
   Peter,
   will You be doing the Erie version of these cars ?
  later EL Stretched them to 85' by adding 5' sections to each end,not the middle
  as said in the Erie-DL&W Equipment Color Guide.
  been meaning to talk to Larry about this someday.

I have never seen pictures of the GSC built F39b cars - so thanks for this. Eldon Gatwood pointed out that 'the F39, F39A and F39C were all welded, with a shallower fishbelly center sill, while the F39B was cast and had a deeper center sill with lightening holes in it.'

You can see that the F39b is very different from the welded F39c as built below

We have not looked at the EL cars - we have had enough difficulty getting the PRR F39 to market - and will be concentrating on these in the next six weeks! Are there any pictures of the EL versions around?

How about the Queen Mary?

I have been trying out different methods of getting good trucks. You will recall that the trucks are those of the L1 tenders - and are an essential part of the look of the car.

We have developed cast truck sides and etched truck sides but these do not work very well - so we are waiting for another version of the etched truck frame, which may solve the problems. In the meantime we have developed a 3D printed version in FUD. These are now available at Shapeways but we have yet to get our first run of these to try - but they are on their way to use as I write. Previous versions have failed the thin wall run [after the software test said all was OK] - hence v3 on our Shapeways shop

    pics of the EL version of the cars are hard to come by.
  have to study cars in the EL UPS Pig trains.
  there are 2 good pics in "EL Color Guide To Freight and Passenger Equipment",
  page 46.Larry DeYoung,  auther.
  on Page 47 is an ex-PRR F39 in TTX lettering to compare to.
   Erie 75' Piggyback Flats are more common in pics,various EL Diamonds have had
  John Long- Erie pics,as have the RMJ Piggyback series over the years.
  also check "Erie/DL&W Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment" by Larry
  DeYoung and Mike Del Veecchio" pages 32-33.
   there are 5 good John Long-Erie Official Promo pics.
    if the Diamond pics turn up will report what issues they are in.
   also check various Erie-EL Calendars from ELHS,Weekend Chief,and current calendars by ELHS.
