Odd choice to do the West Virginia. If memory serves, the West Virginia is basically a ballroom on wheels. NS has other cars, like the Pennsylvania, in their OCS fleet that are more classic business cars.

Fun fact: Most N scale modelers can do a better job of keeping lettering in line than the guys that applied the name on the superdome Delaware.

Lowell's car is actually a mix and match kit with alternate parts for the body, roof and other details to be able to approximate various business cars he plans to do.  Most business cars were converted by railways from existing passenger stock and are almost always unique in arrangement of windows, roof details, etc.  Any car Lowell offers is going to be an approximation.  I do not know which prototypes influenced the design of the model, but Lowell is an SP&S modeller so probably a western car . . .

Well like Lowell says; it's not 100% accurate and like Lou says; it's good enough for me. It is a bit pricey and I hope that the car is really well detailed/built. We will see when it gets here. But it is the only game in town and I'd really like one. so.......

Re: Delaware, lettering...

I've noticed this a lot on the conspicuity striping on a lot of locomotives, much less cars.  But somehow on models this always looks worse....

Reasonably accurate business car models can be built from Laser Horizons sides, if anyone is interested in doing them. 

N&W 100 - 102 (100 is now NS 7 [/i]Pennsylvania[/i] by way of Conrail while N&W is now owned by The Firefighters Education and Training Foundation and N&W 102 served for a time as a Delaware & Hudson business car 100, now Pan Am Railway (Guilford) 100.

Southern is even better covered.  Business cars 1, 2, 4, 8, 9, 12 and 14 (2, 4, 5 and  8 1are now NS 6, 5, 8, 21) and Executive sleepers 15, 16 and 18 (now NS 9, 11 and 13) as well as the Track Inspection car 19 Buena Vista is now NS 23.  Unfortunately you are on your own to figure out what you can use as cores since these cars all feature arched roofs.

This is what you get when you don't consult prototype photos while decalling!!!

         The cars are well detailed and are reasonable copies of prototypes. I now have one Western Pacific car very nice, one NP Two Tone Green car again a nice car, and the most nicely done of all a Santa Fe Modernized Heavyweight in the "Shadow Stripe" paint scheme, the striping is very well done. I hope he uses the modernized body to do a Union Pacific car as some of their modernized cars looked very similar.                               Nate Goodman (Nato). Salt Lake, Utah.

Not really, Lowell commissioned a modernized body and roof. Then he's mixing and matching those parts with the standard MTL heavywieght observation. So you can get the modernized roof on the standard MTL body or vice versa.

I was just wondering what the modernized body was based on. Usually it's harder to make something up than to follow a photo, so it might be based on something.
