No Turtle Creek layout, but I did a few cars just for fun:

I did a second boxcar with white lettering which I gave away. The black letteing was all I had left for the boxcar in the pic. I gave the caboose away too.

I remember when Model Railroader included the Turtle Creek decal set in one of their magazines. I decaled 4 boxcars, which I still have.

Hmm... a turtle doesn't
imply speedy delivery,
does it...?

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

I remember those Turtle Creek decals in MR.  Anyone else remember MR's Seaboard Central decals (or at least the artwork) in the magazine in the 1980s?  I'd like to get those printed for use on my layout.

Dave,

Do you recall exactly which MR issue it was? I have every one going back to 1982. It might take me a while to find it (I'm not all that organized) but once I do, I can scan it for you.

That would be great!  Try December 1985 and January 1986.  If it's not there, don't go to any further trouble.  I'm going off of memories that are clearly decades old.

Thanks!

Well if you are gonna scan them for DFF, can I get a set too?

December '85, January '86. Right.

If my feeble mind can hold that info, I'll start looking through my stash tonight. (Wait... rather than relying on my unreliable mind, I think I'll drop a note into my shirt pocket. ) But don't look for them any sooner than next week. I don't have a scanner -or even web access- at home. (Hey, what can I say? I'm old... and cheap.) I'll have to wait until I get back into the office, on Monday.

Don't sweat it.  No rush.   I appreciate your offer and will be more than happy to compensate you for your trouble.  Thanks!

Are you sure it was in 1986?  I have the issue with the decals stashed up in the attic, but I pretty sure that I didn't start subscribing to MR til 1987.

I went to the Model Railroader forum and found this:

http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?3,472310

It says the decals came with the March, 2003 issue.

EDIT - I looked at the March 2003 Cover on eBay, and there is no mention of the Turtle Creek layout.

Hmm... I sure hope Kiz
read that right...

I used a set of the HO decals on an A-Line/PPW 53' Utility reefer.

Sorry I don't have a better image, but if I remember next time I visit my father I'll dig it out of storage and get a better shot.

Edit: Actually I guess I used an N scale decal on the reefer.
