Hostler put together a real CN only consist on this 372, including a GMD-1:

Resurrected from the dead (line), one of four CP SD90MAC's to be reactivated to cope with a severe power shortage leads a pair of the dwindling numbers of CP SD40-2's on a (mostly) grain empty:

There's usually an engine parked in Castle Rock.  I've never paid much attention to modern diesels but found the rear pilot interesting with the replacement knuckles (?).

That SD90MAC must be one with a cracked frame...

Over the weekend I was in the New Port News, Va area, and maanged to snap a couple of photos of this signal installation:

http://binged.it/1lrZB3B

Not the best light, and yes, its an iPhone.  But considering CSX was working on setting up a Darth Vader signal bridge on the other end (follow the map to the next signal and you'll see where, I thought I should catch this one before it was gone.

Pivoting 90 or so degrees, I got these:

They are on what used to be a lead for the local freight house, which is now a non-rail served construction supply company.

Lewistown PA a couple of Saturdays ago. Caught 4 trains in slightly more than an hour; here are some highlights:

Sadly, there was a terrible fire about 1/4 mile from here last Thursday which damaged or destroyed 25 row homes.  No serious injuries fortunately, but a lot of homeless families.

Great to see a Santa Fe unit, even with the evident decay and that patch.

That transition seems a little strange, doesn't it? All SD90's except the SD90MAC-H II seem to have it.

Cool news about the SD90.  When I bought mine I didn't know they were all being moth-balled and I felt a little stupid that I didn't research and only bought a loco that looked cool.  Now they're back!

Probably only until BNSF's order for 275 or so ES44's is complete, which should lead to the return of the 100 or so CP AC4400's and ES44's that CP leased to BNSF. This will lead to the parking of the four SD90's that are back in service currently, plus all of the former SOO SD60's. Probably a chunk of the remaining SD40-2's as well.

Good catch, Philip.  That's an old C&O cantilever signal.  I'm sorry to hear that its days, like the B&O CPLs, are numbered.

I was out trying to get some reference photos for my layout and heard the distinctive chugging sound of a GE diesel heading up the hill.  I was excited thinking that it was a rare daytime freight but it was the regular San Diegan with a substitute loco.  Oh well.  Sorry for the poor photo quality, I was across a canyon hopping around dirt pathways.
