Spent Friday night at John Drye's house working on scenery at MG Tower as the trackwork into staging enters the final phase, finishing the mainline. I made a few trees that night. Got to watch Bernie Kempinski and his paintbrushes at work on the Altoona backdrop complete with the cathedral and a few other recognizable structures as well. Then I planted a few trees all the while wondering if SuperTrees will be the next shortage since Tony Koester has espoused them over puffballs - one of the super-rare times I've been ahead of the curve. Hopefully John will have the layout open for the August convention.
Saturday, I did numberboards for my son's 10 or so un-numbered and pre-numberboard era units. Hadn't used the laser printer in a while and I think the toner is wonky - seems like it didn't penetrate and can be easily scuffed off with zero effort. Oh, well.
Today I'm wondering how bad Ed K's hangover is after the Beef and Bourbon Festival at the Timonium Fairgrounds.

Lol. Surprisingly, nonexistent!

I think I've found the secret to a good time.

Part 1: good breakfasts: waffles and pork roll.
Part 2: drink beer and bourbon interchangeably, don't just hitup the liquor tables all in a row.
Part 3: BBQ! Pulled pork from a roast pig, then some more from Blacksauce.

Is this railroad related? Well, it happens in the same space as the Timonium shows...

I hope they did a better job cleaning up after the cows than they did for the October show...

I think maybe 'finally' I'm done with S&T #4.   I've got it about as close as I can get it from an Atlas 4-4-0.

Here's the prototype, on the S&T in 1904.  It's a secondhand C&NW 4-4-0 built in 1887.

DM&IR's one and only RDC. The number board and 'United States...' decals are still missing.
I also installed a decoder. One of the worst installs...

Thomas

RDC decoders are the reason I don't have more RDCs.

Is that that the NJ International kit?

Yessir it is. Took me maybe an hour to throw together. Now it just needs some paint and decals.

Still working on the 560' N Scale Mobil Engineer Tanker. Main hatches, cargo piping, high-pressure clean-out piping and manifold added, along with more walkways. Lots of touch-up and straightening still needed. These will be beautiful ships, but just huge for most layouts.

Another great weekend of inspiration.  Randgust, way too early for me but what a beautiful 4-4-0!  Pete Nolan your ships continue to amaze.  I am almost done with your Harbor Cruise ship kit.  Waiting for a friend to print some decals so I can sail it on the Chicago River.

Speaking of the Chicago River, I just finished Lunde Studios Temple Tower (the one with the Aqua roof pyramid).  That's one of David Smith's NZT U.S. Mail trucks passing in front.

Best regards,

Roger

I know it's hard to tell, but after a frustrating weekend, I got this done. No, not the helix. That was done some weeks ago.

It's hard to tell, but the red wires inside the helix go somewhere that I will figure out later, and the black wires at far left go to a BD4 that has yet to be installed.

So much to do and so little time.

I love the helixes (helices?) in this thread this week.  NP1969, would you please share the specs of yours?  ie, radius, thickness of the wood, height between turns and the grade?

Thanks, Craig
