Lemme guess. The big vent on the building is the speed control?

WOW! That's just fantastic!  Can't wait till the road is done and cars/trucks/people start to move in. And I'll be in Jersey tomorrow and/or Sunday so I can verify the sky...

This is what the sky looks like where I live right now...

The sky is not shopped; it's just a chunk of poster mounted on foamcore. I prop it up in the background so there's something other than wall, door, or shelves visible behind the layout. I agree it is a bit intense, but contrary to popular (mis)perception, NJ does have skies like this on occasion--in fact, the last few days it looked pretty close to this.

I like the sky, but will you do something in the buildings that right now show that sky in the windows in some shots? That does look freaky, or just empty.

Small nit, cause that layout look terrific and shows a certain genius.

Oh yes, that will be dealt with anon. Still lots of little stuff to do--it's close but not that close to done.

The air in industrial areas of North America is much cleaner now than it was 50 years ago, but can't argue with a prototype photo.

Better?

With a shout out to Karin of Stonebridge Models for lasering the windows and doors for the industry buildings.

As always, I am in awe of how some of you can put these buildings together and can creatively mix them up.  They look so natural.

I like that sky  :)

Yeah, I really like this.  The photos show such expansive scenes that they almost look like they don't add up to the resultant layout:  like the whole is somehow paradoxically less than the sum of parts.

Can't wait to see it.

Sorry if it's been asked, but does that turnout actually operate nicely?  If so I'm very impressed,  a turnout embedded in the track is probably one of the hardest things to do in N scale.

Works perfectly.

One reason is that the road paving is sheet styrene carefully cut like puzzle pieces to fit around the points. The cosmetics aren't the greatest mostly because it's Unitrack, but hey, it works. (And I'm assuming you meant "turnout embedded in the street..." )

Very nice!  It's too bad our flangeways have to be so damn over-sized in N scale.  I'd say my favourite thing is track in concrete!
