Pure rubbish all around.  :D

Is this where I go cut a 16x27" piece of cardboard and stop working on my door?

I don't suppose that backdrop in the last photos is available in 18x96" ?

Wow. Geeze. Over the top great. Maybe I better get into Lionel or something  :P

It's not time for champagne just yet--there's still a bunch of niggling little things left to do--but it's far enough along for some half-decent views.

A tractor-trailer waits for TTC #3 to creep across East State Street.

Reversing the view we see the bustling corner of East State and South Olden.

An antique wig-wag still stands guard next to Capitol Fuel Oil.

At the other end of East State Street, #3 rumbles past a row home.

Following it around the corner, we see it squeeze past a warehouse and under South Olden.

The view from the South Olden overpass looks down the slope past Union Rubber.

And from the other end of Union Rubber, things are looking up.

David, do you have a reference shot of where the concrete pad goes up against the siding?

It's the one thing that always stands out for some reason.  I'm curious if you had a prototype location you were working from.

Upon looking at these photos one more time (because the layout looks darn good) I do have one critique: There seems to be a gap between the ground and the side of the Capitol Fuel building.  Once that is taken care of, that scene will be perfect.  :D

DKS probably did this on purpose - just to see if we are paying attention!

Hahahahaha...

Day-um!!  As has been stated, the amazing thing is that the parts are greater then their sum!  From the closeups, I'd never guess the "tiny" (I know it's huge to DKS) size of this layout.  Although urban layouts are not my cup of tea (until I get into building my Ogden LDE), I find this quality of work frankly inspiring.

As per the TRW norm, I'm assuming that assorted urban junk and "stuff" will be added to dirty it up some, 'cause it's a bit too clean right now.

Can't get the image of the tank car going through the weedy tracks between the fence and warehouse outa my mind.  A really GREAT shot...and my eyes are never insulted by the Unitrack...I don't even notice it...which sorta leaves me speechless...sorta   :D

Hmmm... turns out, the building is removable, and it wasn't fully seated. Shoulda checked before I took the shot.

Thanks, all, for the kind words! I never really thought this little just-for-fun project would get so much attention.

Mission accomplished.

I think it might be, but it would probably cost several hundred dollars--it's a digital print from All Posters, and the 36" one I got was in the neighborhood of $50-60, IIRC.

David, do you have a reference shot of where the concrete pad goes up against the siding?

I'm not quite sure what you mean. Are you referring to the parking lot at the end of the large Union Rubber building? And is your concern the fact that the concrete meets the rails, without some kind of buffer like a strip of ties or whatever? If so, then I can offer up copious reference images of same, even some where the concrete is poured on all sides of the track, with just indentations left for flangeways. If it's something else, you'll need to elaborate.

I will never EVER complain that I don't have enough room to build a model railroad.  This is sheer genius in a compact package.

Can't wait to see it Saturday!

The photo from the bottom of the hill looking up looks completely real to me.  Amazing!  What are you using to light this scene to take the photos? I assume those shadows are real shadows and not photoshopped in...
