Hey John, are you sure that's a SP 2-10-4?  In 1956 the PRR leased about 25 Santa Fe 2-10-4's and ran them from Columbus north on the coal and ore trains to Cleveland, Sandusky and other Great Lakes ports.  It could be one of those.


Notice at 2:09 they are hauling some N&W coal hoppers that look suspiciously like H2a's...

You're right.  Santa Fe, not SP.  They ran through Bellevue on the way to Sandusky and maybe Huron.   So, my understanding is that the M1's were assigned to coal trains at the very end of steam, so they COULD have been on that same line . . . and since it's almost impossible to prove a negative (that they were NEVER on that line), my imagination can conjure up an appropriate story about why you'd see an M1 in Bellevue in 1957 . . .  On their way to Sandusky and/or Huron; Pennsy line needed some minor repairs, so they detoured over the NKP for a short time . . .
