Hello all,

Here is a completed, painted, and decaled model using Pre-production kit parts and decals.
Things appear to still be on track for a March release.
Kit photos and details coming soon.

P.S. The pewter truck parts are designed exactly the same as the AML PRR 2D-P5 trucks, but they have friction-bearing rather than roller bearing journals (as seen in the picture).

I hope that R50b lettering is just a stand-in, because it sure doesn't look like Pennsy-style to me.

The model appears to be in the as-built scheme, correctly deco'd with olive trucks/underframe and Futura style lettering.

Everything on-line seems to indicate this is a scheme applied in 1939.

Might be a good idea then to let people know if they don't model 1939 they'll need separate decals.

So in order or release, these seven PRR items are coming to the market:

D78
L1
B70a
Centipede

The K4

Who's making the L1 and B70a?

Hello all,

For those who are interested, and can't wait until I finish writing up the information about all of the different PRR paint and decal schemes, here is an excerpt: "The “freight appliance” version of these cars were decorated in 11 different schemes (all) with delux yellow colored lettering as described in the tables. Lettering placement was the same for all schemes."

The decals included in the kit will allow you to decorate the car in any of the 11 schemes used on these cars, specifically between 1938 and the end of service in the mid-1960s. This includes the coved block lettering, futura lettering, and modern block lettering (However, I decided that the 1/16th of an inch black edging used in some lettering schemes would not be included). Full details about ATP for each paint scheme, exterior and interior paint colors, estimated number of cars in a paint scheme, and paint start and end dates will be posted when the kit is released.

Best regards,
Michael Livingston

I don't give a rat's patooty about lettering, etc (I can always provide my own-and it was stated from the beginning that proper lettering for any scheme would be provided)
The car is beautiful!-all I'm worried about is being able to acquire one within this first run...I can't wait to build this one!

Hello all,

Here is the latest update on the GHQ PRR R50B reefer kit (freight version) project.
All of the kit parts are on hand!

Current status: Planned release on the Web site around March 25, 2014
TBD: Post-production kit build and testing

First run size:  50 units
Price:       $32.95 ea
Regular shipping charges will apply.

Kit: Undecorated PRR R50B Reefer (freight appliance version as used in express service) contents  (Assembly and painting required):

- Decals of Coved Block, Futura, and Modern Block lettering used for 11 different schemes on these cars between 1938-the mid 60s
- Plastic strip roofwalk (to be trimmed to length)

For each kit, you will need to supply (after test building is completed, this may change slightly):
