GHQ PRR R50B reefer kit to be released later this month!

Hello all,

Here is the latest update on the GHQ PRR R50B reefer kit (freight version) project.
Almost all of the kit parts are on hand for the first run to be released this month!

Current status: About 15 days before release for sale (Planned for late March 2014)
Still TBD: Painting and decal information for 10 different schemes in use between 1936-1967.

First run size:  50 units (but GHQ will make a second run if these sell out quickly)
Price:    $32.95 ea
Regular shipping charges will apply.

These kits will be offered on the GHQ website at www.ghqmodels.com.
I will send a notification out with more details when the kit is posted and ready to purchase on the Web site.
This will include specific kit details and what you will need to complete these cars yourself.

You missed the H32! 
And if you model late 50's through mid 60's the H2a in PRR paint!
So make that 9 releases! 
And Fox Valley announced the H30 a while ago, although no info on release date? edit: And five minutes later a new thread with the announcement!
And Bowser is rumored to be re-releasing their hoppers?

Finally something to replace that brass one I have which never ran worth anything.  Anyone know is the right trucks come with this.

Hi Bob:

I do not know what trucks (if any) will come with the GHQ R50b, however the correct truck is the 2D-P5 truck that we include with our B60b kits.  This truck also works very well as a replacement truck for the NJ brass R50b.  These trucks were previously available from American Limited, however they are no longer available (at least for now).

Good question Bob!
I believe the R50b ran on 2D-P5 trucks, which were available in kit form from American Limited for a while. I know that Hell Gate Models made a comment about their B60 kits being unavailable due to lack of correct trucks. If Fox Valley GHQ make the correct trucks, it would be a great thing!

The 2D-P5 truck is a passenger car truck (P70, B60b, R50b) so unless FVM has something new up their sleeve, I doubt they would do this truck.

The correct trucks are included with the kit.  It is a three piece pewter casting.
