I wouldn't think so, but you may want to mock up a small section just to confirm.

I was worried about off-gassing or something like that. You know screwing up the paint job on car that sit for a while and rest against it.

Just spit-balling here. 

After reading up on the PA1's being bought for Cleveland-Pittsburgh service I came across that they would often use "modernized coaches"  And found that they were re-built from heavyweights in 1947 I can whip up etched car sides if I wanted to, but are there any core kits out there with a roof line like these?





I don't know if I'll model these, but I want to see what my options are.

Also some info. Erie had the quickest route between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Their station was just outside of Cleveland Union Terminal. They wanted to move to CUT, but that would require extra switching moves (that took time) because steam wasn't allowed under CUT. CUT had their own electric railroad

So Erie bought PA-1's so they could pull right up to the platform.

Chris, The P&LE Also purchased 4 ALCO PA-1's and 2 ALCO PA-2's for the Steel King service between Pittsburgh and Youngstown. It was not uncommon to find the P&LE PA's staying on the train all the way to Cleveland. The PA1's were numbered 4204 - 4207 and the PA2's were numbered 4213 and 4214. All were A units and all were delivered in the New York Central Lighting Stripe scheme.



If you want to change things up a little, add a P&LE PA to your Steel King passenger train.

Illinois Railway Museum has a coach very similar to that one pictured, but it doesn't seem to be listed on their "official" roster.  It's painted in lavender, so it's not hard too miss! 

I pretty much have pictures of all their stuff, but it's at home.  I'll look tonight and see if I can track down some info on that car.

The only heavyweight full roof option we have is the MT business car roof.  You would need to shape the ends.

Chris, I don't think so, wish there were, I could use some.  UP did something similar with some of their heavyweights and like the Erie, changed the roof contour over the vestibules to better match new, lightweight equipment. They did it with old diners also...
