So how does the water color look?

It looks great.  I like the pipe too.  Where did you scavenge that flange and pipe?
Another detail that would fit in is a water level height gauge of some sort, you know like a yard stick thing.

Well I bought a couple of these newer Woodland Scenics kit and well at least the details are good for something:

I added the valve (Gold Medal brake wheel)

Well obviuosly I think it looks good. :P  I like the pipe on the other side too.  Anyone with half a brain will get the idea.

As for the water color, it's hard to say when it's so flat in finish but I don't see why it wouldn't be fine.  One thing I'm too lazy to go back to find is if this is a river or a canal fo some sort.  If it's a river, another detail could be wood piles standing along the front of the culvert to protect agains boats and stuff.

It would be drainage from under a large industrial area into a river that is off the layout.

The pump house does look good.  But to be a  :ashat:, where is the water coming from (or going to)?

I scratchbuilt it some time ago. A mirror image of the one Erie had in Warren Ohio.

The final iteration of the pump house looks awesome.

Looking at the water it looks like it has a hard edge on the eastern bank, making it look 10 ft deep, maybe fade out some earthy tones from the earthen sides? I assume you'll be hitting the waterway with some gloss medium?

Outstanding Chris. What a cool HCD layout. Great to see you working on it again!

Maybe we will see a couple Erie RS3's pulling a coal drag one day?  :D

RS3's are a little too modern for me. I do have 2 though, they stay in the box.
