I have an idiotic question that's bugging me - why double track mainline?  Without using it more for getting around cars for switching it seems, well, excessive for your quality of work.  Not that it's a bad thing but you just don't seem like the "two-trains-circling-in-a-loop" sorta modeler.

There's a swing bridge that crosses a canal, just outside of Indiantown Fl.  Looking at the overhead shot on Google maps, I don't see a doghouse.  I wonder how it operates, because it is in use, today.

And I drew it up full size. It is sort of a smaller version of what I had, but smaller with some Juniata Division and the Jersey City Industrial Railroad. After building my own industrial layout I realized how this could be my big layout and well I started planning. I've had many door layouts and really nothing about this layout means that I need to use a door, but I will. I'll be adding 6" to the length of the door and using another smaller door for a fiddle yard. So with that I tore down my "main layout":

This was like the 4th layout I tried building in my basement in the last 3 years...

This will be my fiddle yard. It has a 18x80 door base. On top of that I will put a 12" wide piece of melamine board on with a pivot at the left.

Most everything was saved from the old layout and some will be used on this one. This layout will use handlaid C55 turnouts because I'm not really happy with Atlas turnouts. Anyways that is my story and this is my new "main layout".

My freight station is based off the one that was in Warren, OH

It was right across the street from where I work. In this photo the station would be just out of frame to the left (the image is reversed)

I tore the whole thing out of the old layout intact.

Behind the Vulcan building is the bashed American Hardware on both sides of the road with a bridge over the road. I'm going to call it Peerless Electric that is in Warren, OH. This is the Erie running behind the real Peerless:

Chris, I admire you that you keep trying new things. Others may accuse of waffling, but I see nothing wrong with change when previous ideas don't work out.

I'm not aware of a limit on the number of layout threads you can have--I'm contemplating another one myself...

Do you want us to combine this with the "Fix a door" thread, since that kind of sets the stage for this one?

Walthers hardwood furniture as it is shown in your pictures, is that really ONE kit?

The one shown is 1 kit, plus some extra walls left over from old kits and it only has 2 walls, just used it for mock-up. I will be building a new shorter building. American Hardware uses some left over wall sections from the industrial layout. Have tons of left over Vulcan parts as well.

Waffling?  Hell, I had to resort to modeling three railroads (SBD, A&R, and SOU) on one HCD to prevent me from waffling again.     Like DKS, I admire that you're not afraid to make improvements- even if that means starting over.  Sometimes it's easier to start from scratch.  It's not like you aren't recycling structures, track, trains, and building materials, so it's not a huge waste of money.  Keep up the good work.
