It's too bad you couldn't have done a slight curve in the corner of the backdrop to hide the edge.

A coved corner is not hard to do and makes a really seamless view. But you need to install it along with the backdrop boards, carefully caulk/putty the seams before painting the final "sky". He'd have to re-do the sky painting now if doing a post-installation, not worth it.

Glad to see people are taking the "steps" issue as humorous. Really, all in fun. Hopefully sometime this summer I will start a thread on my "New Haven-ish" layout construction and you guys can have fun with that. I promise lots of weird stuff to comment on.

Chris, Where do you get the signs for your buildings? They look great.

In the above picture, what's with the loading dock door on the far right building?  How could anything load there?

That's so there's no question that there'll be a great view from that building when a train picks or splits that switch.

The old Morgan Millwork building at the foot of Falls Road near Penn Station in Baltimore has a door just like that, only it's a full height rail siding door.  The extreme south end of the Ma & Pa was the siding that went into the building.

You could realign the siding off to the right and poke it into the building and solve the problem of the track disappearing too.

Either that or place a angled dock even with the bottom of the door. Then place a road crossing at the track and run the road off the edge of the layout, thus creating a truck dock for that building.

^ Put the stairs from the freight house there.

Two problems solved at once.

Nice ballast!  (That's all I notice anymore  :o)  This is all looking really good Chris - doing a great job of conveying a sense of time and place, especially with the vehicles in place.

The ballast is zip-loc baggie brand   but I think it was Smith & Sons penn-ohio blend.

The cinders are from the P&LEs gorilla yard Center st. bridge Youngstown Oh.

What the heck is piled around that signpost on the LH side? Bricks? What kind of an East Coast feature that that?

That's so the sign don't blow over in the wind. Either that or the bicycle guys have been let out of the shop again.

It's a naturally occurring landscape feature in Baltimore.  The bricks escape Penn Station just over the wall to the right and congregate around a street sign trying to look nonchalant.

I cut my grass 3 times already this year. Plus I got my car back from the body shop.
