Thanks Chris. The swap gives it an industrial look that was missing from the simple double hung windows.

Best wishes, Dave

Those original modular windows aren't the greatest close-up. Plus I think older windows had more and smaller panes to them. Larger panes are more modern.

Oh BTW the garage door is from Walther's State Line Farm Supply.

Not done, but after 3 different coats of paint I liked this color:

Just wondering on that personnel door height .... but then again maybe people in PA are way taller than us. Nice overall look. Can't wait to see the signage.

My NZT scale ruler says the door is 80" tall. Exactly the same height as the door this layout is built on.

Looks right to me; there's a transom window over the door.

And at first I planned to use the original DPM doors and windows. That front wall was blank, I cut out the garage door opening and glued the piece of brickwork at the top. Then I cut the man door and glued the curved arch over it. Later when I figured how to make the windows work I then widened the man door opening more for the Grandt Line piece. So it isn't like I had a plan I didn't know what it would look like till it was done.

It is funny sometimes I know exactly what I want, but it doesn't exist in N scale, like a small garage. Other times there are tons of N scale options and I don't know which one I want.  :P

What do the HO version of this DPM garage look like? I don't see it on their site.

It's funny, I caught this thread only recently and had no idea the scale of the layout.  I know it says so in the title, but my brain can't accept this is just a little HCD layout.  The density of your buildings and the centre backdrop combined with the overall top-quality methods you use has produced an amazing layout that feels much bigger than it is.

Don't know why you say that, all you need to do is beat yours up a little, and they're awesome.

Don't know if I have the guts to make Sharpie tar   :scared:

Practice on a test piece. Use the super-sharp Sharpie, not a regular one. Don't bear down on the pen, and don't try to control its every move; just hold it lightly and let it jiggle lightly around. Once you get the hang of it, you can do large areas in no time.
