I really like how they list the era for each unit.  Saves some research time on just for the heck of it purchase.

Except that I think the 1971 date on the #1 and #3 MILW units is wrong.

Hell, I wouldn't mind a Super Fleet Santa Fe FP45 to go with my FVM ATSF GP60.  I have no use for it, and it's several years beyond my 1983-86 era, but they are cool and something I drooled over in my teens back in the day.

Can someone explain the models' road number, era, paint differences (if any), for example:

#100: Era 1989-90
#91: Era 1990-95
#93: Era 1990-99
#98: Era 1990-98

Thanks,
DFF

ATSF renumber the FP45 from the 100's to the 90's because of the then new GP60M were number in the 100's in 1990.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

I understand the era to be in line with the orange and black, as opposed to the UP scheme.

But not the Block Lettering.  I believe that wouldn't be until '75.  And to say 1971+ for the other schemes is misleading as they would have been repainted into the Block Lettering.

Not a big deal, I'm just making a point about trusting manufacturers vs. doing your own research.

I had picked up an undec from the first run to do in MILW, but I couldn't fabricate an electronic bell that looked right so it's still on my desk.  If these come with a beacon, that sound price might be too hard to pass up.

I have no use for FP45's in my era, but man, 140 for sound OEM? I might bite...

A MR expert I am not  :)    As I have only seen it on a ETailor website, do we know if it that way on Athearn's site?

I have no reason to buy any, but they are so tempting and a unique prototype.

Now, CN did own a few ex BN F45's (think four in total, but only know 6609 & 6611 for certain). They never ran for CN, and not sure why they bought them (parts?) as they never had a 20 cylinder 645.

Maybe CN acquired them with the WC?  WC ran some F45 units.

They picked them up mid 1980's, so the purchase predated the WC, let alone CN's purchase of WC.

These are sweet.  So tempting but must resist.

And I thought I successfully resisted this temptation and here it is again.

Utah Railway also was a second hand owner/leaser of those BN units.

A pair of MRL units might show up on my freelanced Idaho Belt as run through power.
