COuld end up being an expensive month - I may get one each of the reprints, and those Strykers on the TTX flat look cool.  But MTL needs to issue those as a separate load - they are usually 4 to a flat not 2.

The weathered/relettered Per Diem Era boxcars look very very nice.

Too bad they're not N-scale.

I like the Strykers but at least you could paint them in a military color.

Excellent!

I have one from the first run - they are as nice as they look.  hence why I may "need" 2.

Too bad they're not N-scale.

They actually did this identical set (the HS relettered boxcars) in n-scale about a year ago.   They sold out almost immediately...I tried to get one but no luck.

It looks like MTL used ITTX for the reporting marks on the 89ft flat.  (which is correct for the car they are trying to represent with that road number and load: http://freight.railfan.ca/ttx/ittx940536.jpg )   Isn't that a change for MTL to a different (more correct) TTX reporting mark for this type of car?  I seem to recall some big fuss about them never actually using correct reporting marks for an 89ft car.

And yellow end ramps and stirrups/grabs on the 89's....that's new too, no?

I didn't originally notice the ITTX mark on the flat, but with that change, I've picked up a couple. Thanks for this Joe/MTL and a nice looking load.

Joe, next time you are thinking about ideas for that laser and timber kits, can MTL consider a deck modification for this flat and the ITTX scheme - looks like these cars have a timber decking applied for implement service, that really stands out on these cars in both loaded and unloaded situations.

Here's the MTL car which shows the loads sitting on a lighter coloured yellow deck than the original flat:
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3716595

It looks like there are steel channels on the outside of the deck surface to keep the timber decking and tie-down equipment in place:

Empties:

Other Loads:

http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1144525
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1144527

I'll leave it up to a former Imagineer to work out how to make it work around the existing deck's rub rails...although I have no problems shaving off the details myself. Feel free to tool up a new flat "deck" too ;-)

You can offer it as a stand alone part or include it in future runs, seeing as there are many load types you can offer I'm sure you'll keep running them.

P&LE passenger trains carried all sorts of NYC cars, so I guess that I can buy the NYC RPO.

I must admit, also, to liking that set of beat-up SP wood boxcars.  It has an SP of Mejico car, e-VUNN.   Is this the first steam era Mexican car that a major manufacturer has issued?   I have seen a few modern era Mexican cars, but have never seen a car from the mid-1950s, or earlier, that was lettered for  a railroad in Mejico.   You did not see too many Mexican cars on the B&O or P&LE, but they did pop up from time to time.  You saw more from Canada than you did from Mejico, but I would not mind having two or three lettered for Mexican roads.

What Lou said...

Might get the ITTX flat, probably not going to keep the Stykers, too modern for me.  But they do look very similar to USMC LAV-25s.
