If someone could do these out of metal, that would be great.
Resin casting does not have the ability for quality detail.
I know I tried!  That's why I returned to styrene construction...

If done correctly, resin casting will reproduce detail with incredible precision--as good as and in some cases better than metal casting.

That model is incredible.  I went looking for a prototype and found this:

I am really looking forward to this model hitting the market, and it gives me reason to buy more trucks at the same time  :)

I love MOW equipment like this.  If we could get offerings like the Kibri models in HO, this would be a great step forward.  I would say this is the first model to really hit that mark.

Never to be satisfied of course,  I would point out that with a tamper and some tie cranes, tie inserter/removers and spikers, you have a surfacing gang.

Thanks, guys, for the input...this was a fun project to put together.

There are minor variations in nearly every photo of these machines so this model may not match every one.  After this master was designed, we received personal permission from Mr. Knox Kershaw to bring all of his MOW equipment to N Scale (and maybe other scales too).  This model, however, is not based on one of his prototypes.

There will be more to come...  watch for Joe's blog and posts as well as our website on when this one will be available (very soon!).

This is great news!  For me at least, this is pretty much the last bit of HO-envy I had left!

A big +1 on this. (I would even go further and say in "in most cases" - if done correctly).  I can easily duplicate a fingerprint accidentally left on the master pattern while making a rubber mold.  Could this fine detail detail show up in a part cast out of metal?

This new development really needs a separate thread. I hadn't followed this one until recently as I thought it was all about those odd eBay castings. I guess it pays to check back, although as a Milwaukee Road modeler track maintenance equipment was somewhat of a rarity!.

Best wishes, Dave
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
